Thoughts about this Christmas day
Christmas Day

A day of glitter and glitz,
Festivities frolic in season,
The warmth of the family spirit,
Gathered in love for a reason.

A tree in the home with lights,
Tinsle and venerated decoration,
Time honoured "treasurettes,"
Repeated use beyond recognition.

Brightly bow tied packages,
Christmas greetings traveling in cards,
The hustle and bussle of traffic,
Driving to see decorations in yards.

My Christmas spirit
Begins in earnest,
When John and Yoko sing,
With children in chorus:

And so this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
A new one just begun

And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Christmas (war is over...)
For weak and for strong (...if you want it)
The rich and the poor ones
The road is so long

And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For the yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

So this is Christmas
And what have you done

War is over - if you want it

So every year I think
Of family members gone,
Their spirits linger nearer,
Keeping their living from harm.

Relishing in the buffet
Of ham, and beans, and yams,
Ambrosia, and pumpkin cheese cake,
Each year, a new precious memory we make.
