A very gray person finds their light. I am only the writer, not the speaker.
They glance at me,
see black,
what’s white.
Around you I was as clear
as day and night.
And you
could see the light
white as clouds.
You could see the shadows
but lit them with your eyes.
You did not see the gray,
storms could not soak you.
You danced,
taking my hand into the gray I feared.
The gray you made white as light.
The black you made beautiful
only in the night.
Puffs of white
Against the blue
To match your eyes.
Puffs, invisible
Against the stars
Bringing back the light.
Making the darkness of sleep
Light as life.
I let you.
The light you saw,
I let you brighten.
The dark you knew,
I let you take me away.
Storms stay still, staring,
Then drift away.
Storms explode, roaring,
Then drift away.
You woke, cold and alone.
Weeping.
Floating away against the blue sky,
there was but a gray puff.
