A tribute to a fallen friend
Who will carry us home from the place we fought and fell
Of our passion, loyalty and honor, who will tell
Who will from our skin, wipe away the blood of war, battlefield soil, and sweat
How will they know of our heart, our courage, when death we finally met
Whose eyes will be the last we’ll see, friend or foe
If we are left there to lie beside the enemy, how will our loved ones ever know
Who will give to our sons the sword we last held in hand
Who will teach them the way to grow into a man
After the silence again falls and the scent of death clears
When the memories of where warriors fought fades through the years
Who will keep us alive with tales of great battles from the past
Who will carry us home as the next generation forgets generations passed
