Becky Simpson and I joined thoughts, and this poem evolved.
Shell of Aloneness
by Vivian Gilbert Zabel and Becky L. Simpson

Every person lives detatched,
Sealed in a cube of separateness;
We are each in our own sphere
Alone.

Our only contact remains
The emotions we share:
Joy, fear, loneliness, happiness,
Love.

We try, with written words,
Our feelings to emit,
Empathy to transmit, to
Others.

Hopeless shell of aloneness,
Irrevocably, is broken
When our poetry touches
Another.
