Why are humans so fascinated by myths and stories?
Heroes and humans

The human brain, logical, calculating
Running through evolution like Hermes
Time and space overcome on winged sandals
Scientific, mathematical, cold hard facts,
Yet a yearning for magic and myth

Clinging to legend, stories of the ages
Wars and battle easily forgotten
But fairy tales and heroes live on
Life in memory

Dragon tears shimmer on window panes
Glow of fairies amongst woodland ferns
Giants footsteps rumbling through storm clouds
Fantasy more exciting than truth
Or truth more fantastic than myth?

Superstition out-competing logic
Walking under ladders
Umbrellas in houses
The unfortunate cat and magpie
Pushing fate by testing limits

Explanations for the unexplained
Sparks of creativity in an unimaginative world
Or simply metaphors for the more important?
