This is a poem about gaining despite pain and loss.
Casting my words as lies,
Painting my doubts as maddness
I watched you primp and press yourself
into an image you tired of wearing for me,
And there on a secondhand sofa
I sat in company with seconds that crashed into storm
every hour on the hour
A gathering fury the morass of
despairing midnight minutes
fighting dark against the bright
blind windows of heart and home
for entry
as the masochistic compulsion
curiousity commands
drove the hours through the summer
into the resignation of true hope
and my words
called in calvary
to ears in distance closed
and heart in wanting hardened
I named my love
repeating to stand to testify as witness
the Faith
that reassures
me that I am not yet the person I am intended
to be nor will tomorrow find me
and in the fragrant dissolution of time
when everyone and all else
has fled
I will remain
holding your intent of love
with value in Godliness measured
and the truth
in silence,
that when you walked
I waited
and in the waiting gained.
