The end of a long distance high school love
I used to live
From one call to the next;
Anticipating the ring-
Never leaving the house.

But now things have changed.

I don't live by the phone now,
For somehow
It has lost its' magical tone.
The ring that used to sound
So sweet and delicate;
Now sounds raspy and thin.

Your voice-
Now a melodic symphony;
Used to be a syncopaited jazz tune.

Why?

Again the phone rings;
How can I tell him-
It's just another
Long distance call?
