A love poem...anyone who knows me knows that that's all that I write. ;)
A Bandaged Heart’s Broken Cries

I cannot relate you to angels,
For you are not quite heavenly.
I cannot relate you to a summer’s day,
For fair is an inhuman quality.
I shall not refer to you as if some great being,
For you are human just as I am.
Bittersweet happiness,
Elated sorrow,
Qualities of a loving, broken heart.
Through his wrapped façade,
He can see you,
Hear you,
Feel you.
Your scent is in the air,
Perched upon his tongue
As if a snake, waiting for its love.

If he could pour
Every ounce of his being into you,
Into your mind,
To let you comprehend what he feels for you.
Love’s too strong,
Hate’s too wrong,
It’s something in-between.
For love is something adults feel,
When they have experienced it once before.
They can tell, but he cannot,
For he is just a child, waiting to bloom.
A child, an adolescent,
Not yet familiar to love’s ways.
Not yet familiar to the trends of teenagers,
To the trend of two lovers.

Love is too strong,
Too sweet.
A sorrowful adoration,
An up-and-down roller coaster.
The noble eagle has found his match,
The mouse so low,
So un-majestic.
Wrapped in a shawl
Of mystery.
The eagle so tall, so noble,
Is matched by only he, who is as low as the ground himself.

You were the eagle,
I am your mouse,
Together we both discover ourselves,
Though apart we’re learning as well.
So, even though I cannot love you,
Even though I may never,
I want you to know,
That I hold you dear, my love for you
Is greater than can ever be discovered,
I know love, I know it well,
But “in” love is a new concept,
The unknown mystery…
