A swashbuckling verse for gentlemen of fortune, privateers and scallywags. Avast!
The pirate adventure story I'm writing (just about finished)will have three songs in it.

I've just finished this, the third song. I'd love you to tell me what you think - especially if you have ideas to improve it!

==============================================

Pirate Shanty

The salty breeze and open seas
Are in our hearts and veins
We love to ride the ocean wide
To course the bounding main

Whene'er we land on distant sands
Where danger skulks in store
Our jolly crew holds strong and true
And boldly sets ashore

The mate unwraps an ancient map
A chart that points the route
Through secret caves, and lonely graves
To piles o' precious loot

The treasure won, we cut and run
Afore our fortunes fail
The purser stows the gold below
The lads unfurl the sails

A course is laid, the anchor weighed
We put to sea again
A-singing of this life we love
Upon the bounding main

... as I said, I'd love to hear from you - especially if you can suggest improvements for this song.
