Learning how to say goodbye to a friend.
Standing by the open grave of my heart
Wrapped in a circle of memories
Moving slowly, touching each one
Savoring the taste, sound, and feel

For each happy memory relived
I will shed a single tear
The tear is not in sadness of the memory
Only sadness that no more memories will be made

For each sad memory relived
I will let a small smile touch my lips and heart
The smile is not in joy
Only that no more sad times will there be

Though yet you live on in this world
In my heart I grieve as though you were dead

An open wound forever within my soul
Your last hateful words as salt forever
Poured upon the open and bleeding
Bond that we once knew

Goodbye my friend
May you know peace in your passing
For in your wake you have left
Grief everlasting.
