He knows who he is, and he's out there somewhere...
You look in the mirror
And you see a hero
I see something slightly
Different, all I can make out is comedy

I hear you talking,
Like it's all so boring
Like you wish there was something
You didn't know

It must be great
To already know everthing
A self appointed sage,
You think you're a philosopher.

But I'm just gray.
I'm shaded in with pencil, no dividing lines
I'm not so clear cut
Clarity will never be mine.

I may not be easily seen
But I take in so much
And I saw your face when they called your bluff
I guess in your mind you're still tough,

So I learned what's real
While you clung to ideals
You think you're a philosopher
But I'm just gray.

For all my mistakes,
They'll never add up
To the pain you cause others
By not knowing enough

Still, I'd pay a fortune
To think I'm a philosopher,
Just for some blind faith.
My color's changed to green

Green is for envy.
I'm not a philosopher.
