A poem about a friendship that goes a step to far and the longing to try and get it back
LOVES MISTAKE

We used to talk everyday,
And laugh so strong,
Let the kids within us,
Play out in song.

Share our troubles,
Our thoughts, our fantasies.
Relax in the dreams,
Of the things that may be.

But I made the choice,
I letting you in,
To places guarded,
Buried deep within.

Where the friendship grew,
So fast and true.
Where thoughts of me,
Became thoughts of you.

But I went too far,
Scared you away,
And what we shared,
Was too much to say.

Now I just want you back,
To fill that place,
Of the friend I loved,
That friendly face.

Because I miss the friend,
I’ve known not long.
How could I make,
That mistake so wrong.

I let you down,
For that I’m sorry.
Please forgive me now,
There’s no need to worry.

I know what I’ve said,
May leave this friendship tainted.
To fall in a love,
So unrequited.
