Poem: A child's-eye perspective on our favorite breakfast food
There's A Hole In My Bagel

Each day I start my morning,
With no answer for this riddle.
When I hold my bagel up,
Why’s there a hole in the middle?

I know I didn’t eat it.
It’s gone long before my first bite.
Does it have some hidden use,
Or is it just an oversight?

My vision is no better
When I hold it up to my eye.
And when I try to sail it,
Well, it sure doesn’t help it fly.

It’s too small to fit my wrist,
And too big to wear as a ring.
I won’t sport it as a crown,
Who wants to be a bagel king?

I love having my bagels,
But I think you might be cheating.
Your holes keep getting bigger,
And there’s less that I am eating.

I don’t like it, it’s not fair.
I miss the middle that you stole!
If it’s all the same to you,
I would like my next bagel whole!
