What on Earth have we done?
I Am Man

I began in the primordial soup of the day
Bubbling skies stirred angry grey
Swirled and swept in an eclectic storm
Chemicals and particles began to form

Seared by heat this orb did boil
No respite from baking soil
I ebbed and flowed with the tides' emotions
Till cooled by seas and swollen oceans

I swam, I crawled, I walked on land
I yearned for fate to take my hand
I called it Earth; He called me Man
And on this rock, my quest began

A goal for Man, for those who heard
His Master plan, to spread The Word
My only tasks, to Learn His teachings
To cultivate, and rule all species

And when He saw my Spirit lift
Upon me He bestowed Three gifts
Gift One was Thought, In twilight dreams
They came and went, in constant streams

Gift Two was fraught, as I discovered
The gift of Choice, above all others
A gift too far for Man, it seems
I kill the Earth, despite its screams

All I have, I chose to choose
I, alone, chose to abuse
The gift that was, in His opinion
The gift of gifts; Gift Three, Dominion

Live side by side, both man and beast
I owned the most, but paid the least
I did not accept this simple creed
And scorched the Earth, engorged with greed

And as I gaze upon my deeds
I see I failed. My Earth - It bleeds
A landscape scarred by Human violence
I’ll end my reign in shameful silence.

I, am Man.
