There is a color for all things...even love
The Color of Love

Don’t.
Don’t ask me to hide what I feel
Behind veiled eyes,
When we are with those who aren’t aware
Of love
And what it can be like.
Please.

Love is not a sometime thing
To be hidden away,
Like a miser hoards his wealth,
Or an art collector with his
Private Mona Lisa.

Love should be flaunted.
Like Autumn flaunts
Her colors,
Or Spring with her green hills
Beginning to flower.

Maybe it’s only that I’m frightened.
By succeeding in playing the game,
The mood might carry over
And when we are alone
Again
I’ll forget
And continue the charade.

So, let me love you
While I can and
Never mind the World…
Love is a better color
Than autumn,
And it sometimes lasts
Till spring.
