just a poem
In the mirror I see me
Young, wild, and free
In the doorway you see me
Tired and worn, a mother to be

I had a bad dream last night
I awoke in sudden fright
I knew my mothers warm embrace
would make everything alright
But that itself is just a dream tonight

I'll go to school today like any other
But unlike them I'll soon be a mother
And at night I sleep with another
Silent, tempting my forbidden lover

Forgive me mom I didn't know
Just how hard it would be to watch her grow
If there had been a way for me to know
I would have easily let him go

Words of wisdom gone unheard
If only I could have seen the truth in your words
They never would have been ignored
And the loss of innocence wouldn't
be something to mourn

Please don't misunderstand I love her still
Yesterday, today and I always will
But now I see that there is always tomorrow
And I would give anything for yesterday to be
more than just carefree memories I get to borrow
