Everyone needs a quiet spot to think
The Harbor
Everyone needs a quiet spot to think

I could stay here forever
and watch the world go on by.
Boats rock in the harbor
as the gentle breeze whispers.
Gulls singing all around me
I love their lonesome cry.

Another workday is at an end
and I have left behind
the deadlines and demands.
This is my time
away from my daily grind
now I can relax and clear my mind.

Words flow onto paper
like the water across the warm sand.
Inspiration is the breeze
blowing through my hair.
Satisfaction washes over me
as I sit here with pen in hand.

The beauty is astounding
as waves crash together in the bay.
Something in the sound of the water
soothes my cluttered mind.
I close my eyes and listen
as I end another strenuous day.

I offer my thanks to the wind and waves
for helping me end this day.
Now I must be on my way
for sleep is whispering my name.
So I must bid the bulkhead good-bye
for tomorrow brings another day.
