Getting away from the real world. Escaping into fiction.
Escapism

I’m sorry, Tim will not be in today.
He slipped away on a ray of sun,
to frolic with larks beyond budding trees,
and lie listless in cumulous clouds,
where his worries will melt, drop, pour away,
to join the forgotten woes of the world below.

There he'll experience pleasures of Faye,
with knights of right and heroes courageous
Ladies grand, and kingdoms of greatness.
The might of magic in a wizard's hands.
Wandering and wondering for hours and days,
searching over un-trodden foreign lands,
in anticipation of realms, veiled with mists.
Mystical, like love’s first kiss that leaves him
awed, breathless, wanting more to explore
Fantasy - a fictional labyrinth, an uncharted sea,
where the tales of the mundane could never be.

As his mind flows and imagination runs astray,
beneath the galaxy woven blanket of the milky way,
he’ll close his eyes and listen to the wind’s lullabies.
Whispers of a dragon’s smite, and of a peasant’s rise,
A god’s destruction, a princess’s favor, a lord’s decree
Adventures the real life has yet to savor or see.
And he will dream, dream throughout the night,
while the maternal moon fawns over him,
nursing him in her gentle glowing light.
Until the dawn’s rise opens his eyes,
and he must return to the woes,
of his world below.

But until then it’s with great bliss that I say
Tim, will not be coming in Today.
