A poem about an abused woman, who finally had enough and got away from it.
The silence lingers on
And the tension grows in the air
The violence is about to begin
But no one rescues her from despair

No ones willing to be a hero
Or save her from a fate worse than death
Which could very well happen this night
When he strangles her and steals her breath

A ritual when he deems something wrong
Even when there lies no shame
An anger so strong it hurts
Not that he feels any of his blame

The tears cried in the night
And the dreams that bring little reprieve
Sadly, the horror begins again
Bringing violence she has no choice but recieve

The time comes when she fears for her life
And cannot keep her sanity any more
She runs into another's arms, clinging
Like so many times before

Unlike before she will not go back
And time will only tell
If all the bruises will fade
And if she sends the abuser to hell
