Fleeting Memories

Slowly night falls and
darkness chases away the memories
of the day.
They disappear into the shadowy
recesses of my mind.

There they lie until
stirred to life by some far distant
thought.
Brief glances of a time long since past
emerge as if a dream.

One again the shadows fall.
My visions disappear as suddenly as if
only a mirage.
Blackness closes in and all is lost till
brought to life once more.
