perfection is not eternal
Perfection

Perfection is only skin-deep,
A surface layer that chips away
As it grows older.
A mere façade,
It lures you
With it’s flawless exterior.
You smile,
And it reflects your expression
With perfect symmetry.
Dimples mirroring dimples
With such precision
That any thoughts of imperfection
Float away and burst
Like bubbles on a sidewalk.
Until one day you smile,
And your smile is not directly reflected.
There is a pause so slight
That you brush it off
As a mere delusion.
Perfection doesn’t fade,
After all.
