A poem about the pain of mental illness dedicated to my precious child. If only......
Intruders

This heart does break from great despair,
That even faith cannot repair.
My precious child, so plagued with sadness
Is slowly being led to madness.

Locked within his mind are fears,
Because of voices that he hears.
What words of comfort can I speak,
When he's convinced the future's bleak.

With their presence they have stole
The very essence of his soul.
He hoped one day to take a wife,
And live a joyous, peaceful life.

Through the night I lie awake,
Engulfed by gloom I cannot shake.
All his pain I would embrace,
For just one smile upon his face.

Disparity he can't conceal
Has ravaged all of lifes' appeal.
A body, spirit, mind all torn,
My precious child, for you I mourn.
