The darker side of love (Poe style)
This is my most recent English 10 homework. My teacher wanted us to either write a pome(30 lines or more) or a story(50 sentences or more) like Edgar Alan Poe, this is what I came up with. I hope you like it.

Vanished in to the Mist

A man standing on a hill looking over the land
Was gently staring at his man.
As the scent of blood lingered on the mist
This forgotten soul would not be missed.
Murdered, he was in a rage of anger
However by no ordinary stranger.
His killer was his own beating heart
For the sight of her ripped him apart.
Memories filled his head
Then he remembered catching her in bed.
His eyes flashed looking at the body laying there
To seek who it was he did not dare.
By what means did he get a top that hill
Just then he began to feel ill.
The man fell to the ground gasping for air
He knew this wasn’t fair.
The fault was not his own,
So why wasn’t he at home?
She was the one that betrayed
Why did she choose him to stay?
He looked up at the endless black hole above him
Everything was now looking dim.
The stars now fading in the blackened sky
Understanding that her love was just a lie.
A hand gun still reeking of hatred lay near
Then suddenly a thought he feared
Did he kill this now lifeless person?
Now his breathing worsening.
Just then lightning flashed
Towards the body his eyes dashed.
He saw neither his love nor her lover
He began to stand and over the body he hovered.
The body that lay before him
Was none other then him.
He remembered none in strife
The taking of his own life
For it became too hard for him to go on
For his love he did not want to long
Knowing her love was lost
He ended it despite all cost
The man that was standing on the hill
Then shortly vanished in to the mist
And was surely always missed.
