Symbolic of any new relationship we might find ourselves strugling with
Oasis

Walking in the desert
Lost, alone and afraid
Of forever being a nomad
Of never being found
Of dying never knowing
A truly satisfied thirst.

Seeing in the distance
The green lush of trees
Of a beautiful oasis
I move closer, intrigued
Hoping, of my own violation
It’s not as empty as before.

Caution fills me
As I slowly move closer
I prudently map its perimeter
Before I enter this dream world
Only to find a new fear lurking
Of this crashing down around me.

Inside I find cool shade and breeze
But afraid to explore too deep I hold back
Until the risk outweighs any loss
I could find within any other walls
So I decide with haste and move deeper
Hoping its not just wishful thinking.

I discover so much as I start to explore
From locked doors to hidden treasures
From what I find, I learn what sealed the doors
Curiosity and wonder make me dig deeper
As I try not forcing the locks of any door
Until I’ve gained the trust of the walls.

That is the hardest part, to gain the trust
That another before me has destroyed
Slowly I make progress, or so I think
For really I’m just going in a circle
But I’ve taken so many turns I don’t realize
Until failure finds me in the harsh sunlight again.
