This is just a description of a beautiful little treasure in Eastern Washington State.
Addy, The Quiet Nest

A quiet nest just off the highway
Where time flows by like the brown and rocky river beyond the deck
Yet slips me the feeling that everything is still and non-changing

Invisible waves crash with hints of smoke and virginal air
Familiar yellow face plays peek-a-boo with misshapen gray and white hands
The baby boy blanket, with its fuzzy blend of colors hangs over
Canopying green erected soldiers remain silent
The injured reduced to nothing more than a stump, as the others protect hills and pastures

The metal road lay discolored, waiting for the iron horse that will scream through the town
Mix-matched homes hop scotched on the street traveled
Variations of green, yellow, and brown carpet the fields
Shadowed by red weathered giants, standing solitary in all its expected country beauty
When the sun rises and sets, nature’s playground looks the same

As the outside grows and matures, Addy remains its orphaned child
Left alone after being lavished with attention and promise
Empty buildings house ghosts from a not so distant past
Begging quietly to be seen, only few have discovered her
With her once charming main street, corner market, and gas station

Treasures lay hidden behind windy back roads
Birds dance in the sky as a wide rainbow of animals play on the different textures of land
Plush mountains that have stood the test of time, shield this valley
Protecting this quiet nest just off the highway
