When the Trees Speak

When the trees speak they start with a whisper
With a hint of a breeze and a rustling of leaves
Branches spread and tree trunks bend
They reach to each other like we do to friends

As the wind blows and fuels conversation
It’s amazing the sounds of loud vegetation
From the small twig to the grand mighty oak
They enjoy socializing like regular folks

Some have soft voices because of small size
The great big trees are subtle and wise
The young little seedlings can’t seem to stay still
They sway and play erupting at will

A blustery day creates such a commotion
Though rooted in soil, trees jump into motion
And then there are bushes who try to be heard
But the trees are supreme and don’t give them a word

To witness the party can be such a treat
Watching the trees gossip and speak
They groove to the beat of Mother Earth
Shaking their leaves with all their worth

The trees feel alive with the wind through their hair
Ignoring the humans who stop to stare
So when the wind blows and you hear branches creek,
Know that is when the trees do speak
