This was written for my best friend for his birthday in hopes it would give him guidance.
Two Roads…

On this most joyous of days,
A new journey begins.
A path has been set before you,
With two roads as means to an end.
All of those that love you,
Look on as you proceed.
To give you hope and comfort,
And be there in times of need.

Either road you choose,
Had perfections as well as flaws.
To guide you on your way,
Remember well your cause.
One road is led by the heart,
Allowing you to be true to yourself.
The other is led by the mind,
And the desire of success and immense wealth.

Though no one may say which road is right,
And though at times you may be confused.
This journey is not meant to be traveled alone,
Nor are you meant to be broken and bruised.
Past trials and times may come back to haunt you,
So be wary of this, and remember you have power.
To control your doubts and overcome your fears,
And to brighten the darkest of hours.

So as this day comes to a close,
Remember all that you hold dear.
For Father Time stops for no one,
And Karma never lends an ear.
I wish you, my friend, the best of luck,
And I will always keep open my hand.
For today you start out on the path,
From being an adolescent boy, to becoming a man.
