... and the staircase is dark. You're alone at home.
I am...
not you
not him
but who?
Family
members
use
the key
None
of the neighbours
rings
like this

You see
part of
my face
you stare
you blink
it's dark
I sense
you're scared
You close
the lid
of the
peephole
I know
you're there
behind
the DOOR

         Is this
         a postman
         with
         more mail?

         A child
         who's lost
         to ask
         the way?

         Door-to-door
         seller?

         Someone ill?...

         A... psychopath
         who wants
         to kill?

         Or
         a new neighbour
         after all?

                   If you
                   don't open,
                   you
                   won't know

I am...
not you
not Them
- but who?

Every
acquaintance
knows
the code
A Stranger
rings
just once
no more
