emptyness, loss, despair, moon, hunger
The Moon

I left you, abandoned. alone.
a few lost garments
and a chance meeting in the hall
and I was gone, no words,
no explanations, just tired eyes.

but my eyes stayed open
in the blue black cold
haunting 3 am. I craved you,

as earth craves the moon,
following till dawn, the luminous
goddess, the mistress of dreams,
the one drawn, yet not drawn
enough, swimming in an infinity
of space stretching from finger tip
to finger tip, light-years apart, separated
by a physical barrier needing to be broken,
to be crashed, thrust apart
until the solar system stops:

to regain its footing,
take a breath,
pause for identification,
smoke a cigarette,
crave more,
and close her eyes.
