A sad yet prevalent truth
Secret Gas Chamber

Throughout time, many horrific things
Have young ones learned to face.
Horrifying things we think
Our innocent ones will never face.

In the Industrial Revolution,
Young ones worked without limits
Their faces blackening as they worked

Working for their needy families
In tunnels, mining endlessly-while
Their lungs blackened with poisonous air.

Then rose a demonic man
Who tortured millions of souls
Including little ones
Who could do him no harm

Locked up in prisons they worked
Till their frail bodies broke apart
Then promised a warm shower
They walked unsuspectingly
Into a cold, heartless grave-where
Their lungs shriveled in poisonous air.

Today we think our young ones are safe
Safe in the homes where they are kept
Safe in the hands of their loving parents

Safe as these same parents light up a smoke
Safe in this secret gas chamber-while
Their lungs wither from poisonous air.
