Delivery Room

“Can I hold her?” The nurse handed him the tiny bundle. The new father cradled the rosy cheeked newborn close.
“What’s her name?” She asked softly.
“Audrey.”
“That’s beautiful.”
“Audrey.” He repeated. “After the mother she’ll never know.” His gaze fell on his wife’s body, and he began to cry.
