Eclipse

A moment
eclipsed by a memory
of her perfume, stinging my nose
making me cry
"Why?"

Your silence
led me to a sanctuary
of denial. I searched for a
a safe place to
hide.

You reach for
my hand, mouthing the words "I do."
They exist in dark shadows. I
can't forget the
lie.

I pull back
my hand, my heart and smile. Free now
from you. The sun shines as another
moment passes
by.
