CHAPTER ONE. In 2018 that where it all started, you may be asking what started?, but do not worry I have the answer to that question , well I am William Barnes, and my parents are mr and mrs Barnes, my parent sometimes are so mean , so I went on to get my own house , a two bedroom flat, however I usually come to my parents home on weekends , I am an Activist , and Winnie Gibbs is also an Activist , on January 14 we had a chance to work with the UN women , we were posted to Africa in a country call Sudan , to assist in the campaign for women rights to education. On before January 14, on the 12 of January my grandma came to my parent house , and I was there , when she saw me she said Oh look who I got here , William come give me a huge, I did , and I also ask her “how she doing with her medication, because she was no longer strong , sometimes she feel some pains all over her body. “No boy do not worry, I am okay” , she replied However I forgot to tell you her name she is Mary Barnes Williams, she is a grandma everyone will like to have, she is really funny , and I can still remember when she came to my house early January at night she will insist to tell me a birth time story. I will said grandma , forget about that am old , maybe when I have children , you come tell them that story . She will always replied, who told you , you are still my grand child, so it is my responsibility. ( So on that January 14 I and Winnie went to do our assignment in Africa , reaching Africa , one thing that I love most was how the sunlight rise in the evening in Sudan, and I love this work ,me and my team help many people in Sudan we were providing places were children could learn, because during the war many schools were destroyed, so we have to put up a center were we educate youth , the children was so responsive to it , many attended it and half of the class were girls ,we had a girl in that class that was so smart her name was Timi darango but later we never saw her again coming to class, so i sent Winnie to vist Timi house and ask what was the problem, that she is no more attending school, all of a sudden i saw Winnie bring Timi with her). I was teaching some children when Winnie told me , i need to hear something , well the whole team sat down with young Timi , she was explaining why she was not coming to school? it is not my fault but my parents fault, Timi replied. what is really the problem?, Winnie ask her Timi ,replied that the father told her not to come to school , that it is useless for her to come to school and she is a girl and so what she will be thinking about is not school, but how she should prepare to get married to a man I was so angry to hear this because the girl was just , 15 years old, and she is about to be giving into marriage, i could not still understands why will a parents, want their child not to go to school, because of some stupid thinking, the main issue was that Timi parents were not poor, so this early marriage thing was not just all about poverty, that means many girls that went into marriage at an early age ,it was not because they were poor , sometimes it is because of some Africa parents mentality about girls child education and it has been shown that 60 percent of early marriage of girls between the age of 14years to 16years old is because of poverty so they go into early marriage and 40 percent it about the mentality of their parents . Because she told us of a case of her friend who her parents gave her out into early marriage because of they were poor in other to sponsor the rest of her siblings in school, but her own case was different , she is about to be giving into marriage because her parents thinks girl child education ends in a husband house and kitchen, that girls education , is not valuable. Well after Timi left our office i promise her i and Winnie will visit her parents house, but also during that week we run a campaign and we found out that out of 100 percent, most of the families that do not allow their girl children to go to school were uneducated, and someone that is uneducated does not know the value of education. however i understand that education does not teach us how money can work for us , but teaches us how to work for money” , but also education is very important, because it develop us , it develop the thinking accuracy and also give us a guide into social life and interactions. So that week i and the whole team started a campaign against early marriage in sudan, and also to educate parents of the value of education, so i put Winnie to be in charge of that. In one of our campaign there was a speech Winnie Gibbs delivered that i love, to some parents in sudan. Winnie speech was educational,inspiring and motivational, and one of the speech i single handedly pick out was the I am not ashame to be a woman I quote She said.. everyone watching at us does not mean we can not watch back, the life of a female should not be dependable on a man, everyone has choices, and everyone is equal,and so i refuse to be treated as a nobody, every woman has dignity and so our dignity must be respected and so if the women of this generation fails to stand up for this , then we are not women, the only difference i see between us and our male counterpart, is gender, and authority, but also the males, specifically anyone who do not support childs or girls education, should better understand that female education is every important and we have a part to play in this world we are, so i urge you my fellow women, do not be ashame for who you are , but stand up for your dignity and for who you are. However that above speech was the speech Winnie gave during the campaign, well the speech i did not complete it , but that was a part of it . On Monday i and Winnie visited Timi parents , as we reached the house , we were welcome , by Timi mother, She said. my children you are welcome to our house Thank you madam, I and Winnie replied Let me bring you a seat, said Mrs Darango However Mrs Darango brought only one seat, and gave to me to sit down , while still waiting for her to bring another seat for Winnie , Timila father came in , i stand up as a sign of respect, Winnie was still stand when Timi father sat down on a chair and ask his wife to sit on the floor, and also turning to Winnie . young lady you can sit down he said Winnie ask him sir you want me to sit down on the floor? Mr Darango, yes. I was using my eyes to communicate to Winnie, not to be angry ,because i saw on her face that she was already angry but Winnie did not even look at me. Winnie ask Mr Darango excuss me , you want me to sit on the floor? ,do you know that it is a downplay on my right and dignity as a woman, may be your wife sat on the floor, but me i know my right. I can sue you fo this ,Winnie said.. this is not your country,this is sudan young lady, here in sudan women sit on the floor when the men are around.Mr Darango replied. If you do not want to sit,then you must leave my house , said mr Darango I was so angry when he said that , I held Winnie on the hand and we left the compound with out , statement , telling them why we visited, because there was no need for that , we could see that mr Darango was not a supporter of women rights, but i told him one thing , that men who do not support gender equality, girls education, are weak men. How on earthy will you ask an activist to sit on the floor or ask a woman to sit on the floor as a sign of respect. The whole day i kept wondering to myself what kind of way of life that so much disrespect women, Winnie was so angry, well i told her to get over it , because there is no use remembering that , the next day we got a letter to report back to Los Angeles , eventually as we were arranging our things ,Winnie suggested that it will be good to tell the children that she is going . I said , is okay at least it shows she cares, But Timila was not there, but that morning that we were arranging , one of our team mate told ,Winnie that a young lady is asking about her , we ran out and found out it was Timila, she apologize to I and Winnie , Winnie told her it was not her fault, so there is no need to be sorry. While talking to her , our flight arrived . Winnie told Timila goodbye ,but Timila held firm to Winnie hand , that she will not let go , that she want to follow us. I was scare because she got no passport, I ask her, if her parents knew she was coming here, She replied.. no, i ran away, my parents do not know I got more scare because we could be sue for that , taking a child without the parents knowledge. I told Winnie, But Timila was crying so hard, saying I want to school, i love education . Timi turning to me , and she went down on her knees, with tears on her eyes, please sir, i love to school, if i stay with my parents i will never school she said. The mild expression from her and her words , made me felt as if cold waters, was poured on a hot coal, i was so speechless, i turn to Winnie if she had anything to say, and finally,Winnie accepted in taking her to the United States. The most of it was Winnie ask the girl to impersonate that she is Winnie younger sister, that she lost her passport, and was in Africa , so Winnie came to carry her, so Timila was answering the name Gibbs which is Winnie dad name , we said that lie everywhere,even at the office when we reach Houston , well because Winnie did not want her dad to hear of Timila, she move to kansas city with Timila, where she enrolled Timila Gibbs in grade six. On Saturday i visited my parents, and eventually my grandma was also at home , when she saw me . She said , hey son , i thought you were coming with a woman from Africa , I replied ,.. no grandma Well i just wanna tell you ,we want a wife , my grandmom said it. I said , Mam what do you mean by that?.... Just before i finish saying that , my dad came behind me , and was saying, son what you Grandma is trying to tell you is that ,we want you to get married. I did not say a word, i just walk out. Next day I meet with Gayle I told him about the African girl we brought from Africa but I did not disclosed her name to him, Gayle replied.. why will you bring a native girl to tht united state We just laughed about it. CHAPTER TWO. That night lucky i guess my friend,Johnson Barnes, was having a birthday party, Johnson barnes, have the same last name with me but he is not my brother, and not my father son, he is just a friend, back then in nine grade we use to called him jojo, we were called the champ guys the champ guys is a group made of five boys , we are the hottest , i can still remember , when kevin stuart mess his pants, the best thing was that, the whole five of us are going to meet again , i was so happy. Reaching the venue i saw, my own home boy Gayle King, one of the champs, while taking to him, a lady walk into the venue that caught my attention. First i was scare to walk up to her, i went to the restroom, because of that ,i was still trying to gather courage to walk up to her , when ,Logan matt walk up to her , and lied that i was calling her,pointing at me, the damsel walk up to me ,i was surprise and speechless, i just told her i wanted to appreciate her height , She replied, thank you. She ask , so what your name , I was still speechless, She said hello. I apologize , then i told her my name , She said, nice , I am Gabrielle luie, . Is my pleasure meeting you, queen,.. I replied. I said to my self i just found a wife , because i felt so free, talking with her, so after the party i invited her for dinner at my house , when she came for dinner the next day, she was even the one doing the cooking , but she was the guest, I told her , now is as if I am the guest here We laughed over that, when grandma came in , What ? , Grandma you could have knock on the door, I said Wait in my grandson house too?,she replied I said sorry mam, She replied you better be I introduce Gabrielle to her , and we all ate together, later that evening i got a call from my dad, Son you finally got yourself a wife , I ask him, who told him?. he said it was my grandma . Then my dad suggested on the phone that we should go for a medical test first, I said , dad i have not even ask her out if she is going to marry me Okay do that fast , my dad replied It was like two weeks , before i then ask her if she is going to marry me , she said yes . So i went on with her to the hospital to meet our family doctor to run a test on us , which doctor Anderson gladly did , we were to get the report the next week, well as next week approach, Gabrielle had tight works , there was no space , so i went by my self to get the result. Reaching the hospital, i waited for some minute before doctor Anderson show up . He said, you can still do with it I did not understand , so i ask him do with what doctor? You are good and clean,but your wife has sickle cell homoglobin, doctor Anderson replied. I was speechless, i could not say a word, I just wonder why, so she is going to die” , just told doctor no problem, i left the hospital, reaching the house she was already at home , when i enter, the first thing i ask her was. Where are your parents?, I ask She replied. They are all dead when i was just 16, Is there anything wrong, she ask Just as i was to say no problem, i got a call from my dad, he said son am sorry but you can not marry her, she is going to die anyway, so forget about it , you will still get another woman out there, beautiful and good as her, I try to explain is not all about beauty or been good , is all about to love and been love back because to love is different and to be love back is another, Gabrielle love me , before i finish explaining this to my dad on phone ,Gabrielle was already crying, i told her not to cry and i promise her that am not going to let her go, the fact about it was that if not for the test she couldnt have known she have that kind of thing. Just before i finsh making her to stop crying, i also got a call from Winnie that i am about to represent the UNwomen for girls education in Nigeria and she (Winnie) was posted to India. I promise my wife that as soon i am back from Nigeria , we are going to get married no matter what, so the next day i took my flight to some part in Nigeria, back in Nigeria i saw many things campaigns need to be done on, many issues that affect women rights, i got to witness a situation where a woman was force to drink the water that was used to wash the body of her dead husband me and my team try to talk this out with the people that this act is not just a downplay of women right , it is also inhuman, but all we got was that that is their culture, especially when they suspect that maybe the woman killed her husband. I could not get my mind the whole day over that incident, i just wonder in this generation people still act like this , this is inequality. Just as i was still thinking, i got a phone call from my grandma, She said , how are you doing son , i just want to tell you someday your Gabrielle is going to die, I was like scare i ask if she was in the hospital Grandma replied , no she is not I ask then, grandma why will you say that she is going to die?, do you want to kill her?,..i ask Why will i do that, that is a world crime, Grandma replied. But you know she is a sickle cell patient, I replied Grandma forget about it , nobody is dying She replied okay, and i hang off the call, also at the end of that week i got to know the people of that place was celebrating a festival, at first i heared it was a celebration of womenhood, i was so happy , i attended it , so as to know more, but i got to know when i ask one of the elderly man. He said,. The celebration is for only women who gave birth to a male child ,for example if a woman gave birth to five children and all the children are male , or three of the children are male she will be celebrated, but if the woman gave birth to only girls , she will not be celebrated rather the woman will reture the bride price and marriage rite her husband paid back to her husband and then the woman will reture to her fathers house. I was so angry,look at the less importance they gave to women, the one that make me so much angry that even made me to take a break back to Houston , was the one Winnie Gibbs told me, it happen in India. that a man gamble with his lovely wedded wife for money the fact was this people had no respect for women, so i came back to Houston and i suggested , a campaign for awareness for the importance of a woman , after i started the campaign, like for three month my dad never call me even when i visited his house , all because he did not want me to get married to Gabrielle, that someday Gabrielle will die, but i told him till then, so i went on with the marriage i and Gabrielle got married. i use my friends and mom , grandma so as to plead with my dad not to be angry, but my dad was still angry, so that faithful day i got a call from doctor Anderson, that he will like to see i,my dad and mom , grandma and my friends. We all came to see doctor Anderson, then doctor Anderson looking at us he said your wife can still live a normal life. I ask how ?, and how much it will cost?. CHAPTER THREE. He said first he need to explain some certain things to us. He said.” do you know if we are ask to exchange our wifes, that i will prefer to keep Gabrielle than taking his wife”? He said .. that my beautiful wife you see there, is a cancer patient”.( Pointing at his wife) We were all shock, because doctor Anderson wife , Anisha was so gorgeous. Doctor Anderson continue , that he has been living with his cancer wife for over ten years, he explains , that the most thing is that he did not regret marrying Anisha Anderson, and they have four kids and are happily married, and his wife works , that was so inspiring. So i ask him, so you are trying to tell me that , i and my wife can live very happy?. Even when she has sickle cell?. He replied with a smile , yes you people will. I was so glad to hear that, then my grand ma ask a question, so doctor what about when she become pregnant, will my grand children not be sickle cell patient. No,Doctor Anderson reply. Then he explain to us that , there are circumstances where a child been born by a sickle mother can have it also and also there are circumstance where a child been born, will not have sickle cell from his or her parents, first if the child both parents have sickle cell genes, the baby can inherit it, but if it is only one of the parents that is sickle cell the child will not have sickle cell. I was happy to hear that,so i ask him, doctor that means i and my wife will give birth to a child without the child having that disease, He replied , yes. But sometimes sickle cell disease affect pregnancy, and that can only happen depending on whether the mother has sickle cell disease or sickle cell trait, he go further to explain that women with sickle cell trait, may experience frequent urinary tract infection but a woman with sickle cell disease are more likely to have complications in pregnancy, like miscarriage,intrauterine growth restriction,preterm birth,low birth weigth,still birth and death. So doctor tell me which one is my wife having?, I ask He replied that she is having ,sickle cell trait. Logan matt, ask doctor, so how can she manage this sickle cell during her pregnancy’? The doctor replied, that it can be done through prenatal visit and also fetal testing. CHAPTER FOUR. At least from this explanation i could see my dad no more angry the way he is when he came, so my dad ask how long do Gabrielle have to live ?. Doctor Anderson smile and said .. that, Gabrielle can live long because , however report has shown from the journal of American society of Hematology that people like Gabrielle with mildly symptomatic with sickle cell may live long lives with proper management of the disease, including strong family support and strict adherence to medication and appointments. “My Grandma said , doctor has anybody been witness live long with this sickle cell”?, Doctor Anderson replied yes, stating that four American women with mildly sickle cell who have far surpassed the U.S median of 47 years old for women with this disease reach 86 years old. Also doctor Anderson also pointed out that three of the women was treated at the sickle cell center of Thomas jefferson university and one in Brazils instituto de Hematologia Arthur de siqueira Cavalcanti in Rio de Janeiro. He also added that Gabrielle can get cure of it , but it is between life and death, he said it will be a bone marrow transplant. But still on that, there will be a medication for that. i was glad to hear this and inside of me i was ready to do the transplant. But i never told anyone, because bone marrow donor are very hard to fine. We thank doctor Anderson for letting us to know about it and also we were all happy i could see that on the faces of everyone. My dad walk up to me and said , son i am sorry for not listening to you , i said no problem dad you are always forgiven. Later that day i make a visit to my pastor , i told him of what was on my mind to do. Pastor Tunner , look at me with a surprise on his face and said , so are you really sure you want to do that? Yes pastor , I agree Pastor said , son i know you love her and if you want to do this no problem, God is with you always. Through out that week i got to be attending service with Gabrielle, well the next week we did it , we did the bone marrow transfer , i donated the bone marrow it was like a kind of blood transfer , and because of that i need to rest, i miss some campaign i was to host in Pakistan. But all the same i did it as a gift for my love. (few months later) I was watching my favourite show , when joseph magee tv show came up, and this time theyd a former drug dealer on the show he was interview,by name Diego Sandoval Espinosa he is a Mexican, he was ask , what is his life biggest regret, He replied, my life biggest regret, is that fact that , i harm innocent ones, by selling drugs to them, i myself i never took any of those drugs i sold out, because those drugs are harmful , to the human system, but we sell them because of the money, i have made so much money fom this and i am not afraid to say that drugs are made to destroyed human beings. Because everyday you take it , it destroy ten percent of your human system ability and function. i never love selling cocain, i only sold it because i needed that cash. While still Watching this show my wife came in, she came with a girl, which i do not know , so i switch off the tv, and i called her aside and ask who , the girl she came with is?. She reply, she is my friend. Well i did not disagree with her , so i just told her to be a little bit careful with how she miggle with this girls around, she turn to me and said i always want to be in control of her life. i was shock to hear that. So i had to ask, why will she say such (Because i have always care about her , and i always want the best for her). She left the house with the girl , i was still surprise, when i heared a knock on my door , it was Gayle King,kevin stuart,Johnson Barnes and Logan matt, kevin using his hand to demonstrate, jade i just saw your wife and a girl pass us, Logan Matt, said , she didnt even say hello to us I replied, my apologize for that Is okay, Logan replied Logan Matt ask me, William is everything okay I replied , yes everything is okay, but i do not understand what just happen, What happen?,ask by kevin Stuart I said , can you believe that Gabrielle said i always control her life , that i tell her what to do and not to do, i try to explain to her that i just want to protect her , but you know what she did. What did she do?, ask by my friends I replied , she walk out . Kevin came close to me , lay his hand on my shoulder and said , William you need to get over it , you see I and my wife Ashley , have been marry for so long but still she still listen to her friends talks , so you just need to make your own wife understand. Kevin stop telling him that, said by Gayle. Johnson said , guys that why I do not want to get married , because the first girl I try that with, wanted to use me , he then explain that the girl wanted to get married to him after five years, she will call for a divorce and then take half of his properties. Do you guys know something , I think for those having marital issues, you all need to visit a marriage consultant, so that you can be advice said by Logan Gayle said , actually Logan is right. We were just still talking when,kevin stuart wife Ashley bash into my house with her voice high shouting and pointing at her husband, where are they? Kevin ask her who are they, she replied the girls you guys are partying with. We were shock I ask her , which girls, we are just here talking, She replied to me , William stay away from this, stop trying to cover up for kevin because he is your friend, because Ameen Erica told me that she saw girls coming out of this house. I ask Ashley, who is Ameen Erica? Kevin replied to me, it is the friend she I told you about. Before we could just finish talking, Ashley hit a bottle on her husband head and went away, kevin was bleeding so bad , so we rushed him to the hospital, okay after he was treated, we said we should follow him to his house, reaching his house , the wife just came out with an iron and hit her husband car front, just as we are trying to understand why she would do that, she came out with water and pour it on us. i felt like hitting her, but her husband kevin, told me to leave her, we could not stay , so we all drove out with kevin. So we went to my own house. Later that evening Logan left us that he had a party to attend, but twenty munite later, Logan call me that he want me to come join him, when i reach the place, guess what i saw. “My wife Gabrielle with another man, partying. i made her to see me , the worst of it, was she did not even act as if i was there. i was unable to cry, she just walk pass me with the guy,Logan came closer to me ,he just told me William i think we should be going home. We left the place back home and i explain what just happen, i told my dad and everyone at home heared about it , i waited maybe she could come home but she did not come home that night. i had to leave my house and slept at Logan place. Next morning , i went back to my house and i went to visit , Amy Johnson, she is a marriage consultant, i wanted to know what really should i do in this kind of situation, well i meet with her, i told her all the passed issue i had with Gabrielle and what happen last night, on her face i could tell she was so displeased with the actions Gabrielle took. so she think living life is by clubing with some guy, Amy ask me’, I replied, i do not know i believe we all can differeciate between good and evil, well i do not ask you to go back and fight for that will be stupid , for the actions you took was good for any right thinking person, but on the second CHAPTER FIVE. note i think that Gabrielle is not your type, you are worth more than that William, a woman that does not respect you, feeling you are caging her, that she want to live life anyhow by going back to an ex boyfriend , who just came back from Europe, is stupid, she will regret this . Said by Amy johnson So i ask her , Amy what your advice to me? , She said , quite the relationship, you are giving too much importances to her, so quite it. Let her go meet that one that she can live a free life. I was so thankful to have a one on one chat with Amy , so i went home , reaching the house kevin stuart was waiting in front of my house i open the door and we both went in, just as i went into the kitchen to get some juice i heared a knock on my door , so i ask kevin to open the door for that person, only to find out it was Gabrielle. she look at me up and down i just ask her one question. Gabrielle do you really want to go live with your ex again? (she look at me surprisely) She replied me , yes I said is okay you are free to go , She ask if am sure about it , and if i can do without her, I smile and i told her i can do a millions times without her, so she arranged her things and left my house and that was the last time i saw her . kevin just told me , guy is alright Yes ,you are right, i replied. However that week i and Winnie travel to italy , in a honorable ceremony, in respect for a true activist who was killed ,Oscar David , he has assist in many thing such as helping to bring fresh drinking water to children and people of sudan, he has also educated many young girls to stand for their right . The next week i return back to Houston , last night i slept , when i woke up i was feeling pains at the left coner of my neck. so i went to see doctor Anderson, but he said nothing was wrong with my neck, that why my neck pain me is because i slept wrongly thats why. I thank doctor Anderson, he also said he had something to show me , from afar he pointed at Helen Gibbs, Winnie aunty, he said she is a cancer survivor and she had it at the age of 45 and now she is 87 years old. Then doctor Anderson turning to look at me he said, when he see this survivor he knows his wife will also survive it. i said Amen to that. He also make a point at one Christina webber that she is a sickle cell survivor just like my wife, but doctor Anderson did not know that i and Gabrielle are no more . He said , so how is your wife? I just do not want long talks, I reply, she is fine doctor. He replied, okay My phone rang, it was kevin , he call me that i should come to his place that it is urgent, well i did , i went to his place, reaching there, my other friends where already there, when we ask kevin , what this calling was all about? , he replied that his wife wanted to apologize to us. Well as we were still talking Ashley came down to meet us , she went down on her knees and ask us to forgive her. We indeed forgive her. So later we all left kiven place except Ashley herself. I was like , kevin what will make your wife apologize to us and now she treat you with respect. He said ,William my wife was just been protective , she was just mislead by that her friend, William do you know that,Ameen was just bend on destroying the relationship between i and Ashley?, kevin said. So i ask him how did he manage to know or how did Ashley manage to know , he said it was another of Ashley friend who also knows Ameen , that told Ashley, well i just said thank God at least now , kevin head is going to rest, Logan replied, yes Gayle said, now someone is not going to be afriad again when its late at night to go back to his own house. Johnson told Gayle , you are right Kevin shouted , you guys should stop it We all laughed.. On Sunday i went to church at the christ christain center , pastor Tunner ask me to meet with him after the service , which i did. He was just asking me if i was okay and if i would love to come together again with Gabrielle, I said no , Just as i was talking to pastor, she came , i mean Gabrielle came in asking for my forgiveness, i look at pastor Tunner and he said William you can still forgive , well i stated one thing clear, i have forgiving her, but she can never be my woman again, because even the Bible stated, we should forgive and i just did and also the Bible said, we have right to divorce , if is of sexual offence , so it is my choice to choose to keep her or not and i choose not to. but i have forgiving her, so i held her hand, she stand up i kiss her on her head then we walk home after church, but she is no more my wife. i even got to know her ex name was Gilbert Cannon, a former basketball player. Well the next morning i was getting calls from my friends and family , all the message was just William i hope you are not getting back with her i said no am not i just only forgive her. And nothing more because Logan came to my house to see if she is with me but he found out she is not , is only on sunday that she just came by, thats all. why we were still stand outside of my house Gayle came by my house , I said , Gayle do not tell me you came too ,to see if am back with her or not. because am not with her again. He replied, no that not what , i am here for, So what are you here for, I and Logan ask him He smile and then said , guys i just fell in love , With who , we ask.. He replied , with a lady doctor Logan ask so what her name .. He said , Timila Gibbs I said hold up, do you mean Timila Gibbs , he said yes , i said, i know her , He did not believe me , until i call Timi on the phone , He said , i love her so stay clear, i said do not worry i and Timila are just friends, i never told him , she was the girl from Africa that follow i and Winnie back to the states, and he never care to ask, he was just full with joy. because sometime , real women are hard to find , so when you see one be thankful for that. That evening Winnie came by my house to tell me about it , i told her , i already knew about it , we cheers to that, it was like a mission done for Timila and i was so happy for her , i was like Winnie how do you think if we visit Sudan with Timila and her soon husband?, because is about 12 years since Timila left Sudan. That night it was already late so Winnie had to sleep at my house, you should not think otherwise, i never did anything with Winnie , she only slept at the other room, the next morning she took her bath at my place and also , i and her went to see Timila , at first when we told Timila that at least we should visit her parents, at first she did not agree to that, but after so much talks she agreed, to visit Sudan, well Gayle also follow. Reaching Sudan , was nice , we slept at the hotel, then the next day we visited her parents, from afar , the mother start shouting ,look at my daughter we were surprise so they could still recognize her, the father came out very angry, saying we stole his child Timila explain what happen and what we did, then she show Gayle to her fathers, stating Gayle want to marry her, i saw the smile on her father faces, he ask us to sit down, i was surprise , he brought out chairs for the ladies to sit down. CHAPTER SIX. He said so now my daughter is educated and she is a medical doctor and she is about to marry We all answer yes He went down on his knees and ask Winnie to forgive him, Winnie told him not to knee down, that she forgive him, then Timila father ask how can someone become an activist for girls education we just told him the truth start a campaign in everywhere you find yourself , well we stay in Sudan for like a month at Timila father house well he became an activist at the age of 81, that make many people to know the importance of girls education. We travel back to Houston, when i reach my house , Gabrielle came to visit , then she saw Winnie , and you know what , Winnie was extraordinary beautiful, when Gabrielle saw her , jealousy was written all over the face of Gabrielle , then she ( Winnie) said Hello to Gabrielle. Gabrielle ask me is this your new wife , Winnie shouted , yes am his new wife i was shock because i did not remember ,asking Winnie to marry me, but i could not say it there so i waited until Gabrielle left, then i ask Winnie, why will she do that? She replied, I want her to know you are not alone We just laughed about it , so just as Winnie went to the kitchen to get some juice, i got a phone call from Kevin wife ,Ashley. She said , William are you at home? Yes, I replied . She said okay , I am coming over I was like for what? She replied that when she come i will know. I waited, for her, but Winnie was still with me, then when she arrive,she was crying, first i thought if my friend was dead, i could not wait. i ask what was the problem, she reply that her friend was in grave danger, i ask which of her friend , I ask, Ameen or Debra, which of them, She said no, not them that this other friend i do not know, so i ask what is the problem , she first ask us , “ Apart from fighting for girls education and gender equality, do you also fight against domestic violence”? I replied, if it is necessary i will. So she explain about one of her friend , by name Sarah that she is a victim of domestic violence, so I follow her to Sarah house , Sarah Monty explain that she has been married to her husband for five years and everyday has been hell for her , that he always beat her up and told her if she try to leave him, he is going to kill her, and the children, i was like, if she have lay report to the police , she replied yes , that whenever she report to the police department, officer Kelley always make fun of it and do nothing, First i ask her if she was legally married to her Monty? She replied , no I now suggested she leave Monty, since she is not yet married to him, It is not easy as you see it , she replied to me , Why? I ask She said , the problem is not just about the children, the problem is not whether i have another place to stay, the problem is he may come for me, and the police, will not be there to save me . So i ask her what are her plans, She said she have no plans , So i ask her if she could come stay at my place , she said no, stating that it will be very dangerous for both of us, so i remember a good officer friend , officer Ellison, i called him, and we all went to meet officer Ellison, she (Sarah) explain what has been happening between her and her husband, after leaving officer Ellison, as we were driving i notice a car following us , through the side mirror, i told Sarah. She said, it is him, I replied who , she said Monty What ?, Ashley shouted with surprise , The next thing i could hear was a car hitting ours , then i started driving fast, he continue following us , soon he started shooting at us with a gun, my mind was beating so fast, “i do not want to die” i drive as Fast as i can , then i ask Ashley to call officer Ellison on the phone the first time the line was not going, she try the second time it was not going, she try more than five times the line was not going , so I ask her to call the police, when she call the police department it was officer kelly, Asley was trying to explain to him that our life is in danger all he could say was you cheater call someone else then suddenly Ellison call my phone , officer Ellison said we should keep moving and not stop he will be with us soon, well we drive for so long after giving him some gab, i stop the car we all came down and ran into a building and soon he came by that place we were watching him, he came down with an AK47 , so what i did was, i ask, Ashley and Sarah to distract him, as he went on with them, i ran to his car open the fuel section , remove all the fuel then destroyed his tyers , then Ashley and Sarah ran back to our own car as i was about to start the car , he caught us, He said , get down.. Hey do not play with me , We all came down , he was pointing the gun at me , CHAPTER SEVEN. He said , so you want to be the saviour? I said , no He turn to Ashley, and said i warn you to stay clear from my family and you did not listen He turn to his wife , and said I love you dear, but you are making me to hurt you, I never wanted to do it ( I thought in my mind what kind of love, do he profess to his wife, no not wife, girlfriend, then still pointing a gun at her, that is no love, because love dose not destroy, it repairs, love dose not hurt, it heals). Sarah response to him was , if you want to kill us , kill us ( I said in my mind , no sarah i do not want to die,) Just before i could know , he shot me in my hand at the left conner, i was bleeding , He said he was going to kill us little by little, i was bleeding for like , ten minute , officer Ellison has not showed up , all I could hear was , Sarah ask him not to kill me , then i heared a gun shot,then I heard our car been driven away, i heard Ashley shouting he just shot Sarah , the next thing i could hear was police sounds. the next thing i saw when i open my eyes was Niya and my parents, with my friends , looking around i found out i was in the hospital, immediately i ask about Ashley, her husband kevin told me she is find and i said what about Sarah, doctor Anderson said she made it , she survive. I was very angry at officer Ellison,maybe i could have not trust him, because he showed up late, but later i heard , Rementer Monty, sarah husband , was arrested, but i kept asking myself “what if God was not with us”?, “what if we all died” ,what will the arrest of Monty have any value to us. i just give thanks to God. The next week I got a call from Gabrielle, she said oh William why do you want to kill yourself, for someone else I just let her said all what she had to say then I hang on, I was very speechless, on my birthday, everyone was giving me a birthday present , Winnie came over to where I was standing , went down on her knees, remove a ring from her bag and ask me will I marry her I was shock, surprise and happy, I said yes. Do you know what, I always love , Winnie but I was unable to tell her but today , I did, pastor Tunner was glad for me , my grandma,, my friends all where happy. So we went for medical test at doctor Anderson hospital, two days after my birthday, doctor Anderson came with the result to my place and said my Winnie had cancer, it was like a family thing, I said no problem doctor, we can do with it. He said are you sure, I said yes . Actually we did, we dealt with it , I and Winnie live so happy, and by next year she will be undergoing treatment for cancer. I forgot to tell you we had a baby. I just want you to know that you can still live a normal life as a cancer patient, get that thought out of you that you will die , in fact most cases of cancer patients death, sometimes is not the cancer that kill them, it is the thought, the thought of you having cancer, the fear of dying, many have been survivor of cancer and so your own case is not different, you can still survive as a cancer patient, and right now there are treatment for that, get over your thought or fear of dying, you will see, you will last long than you think and to eradicate cancer, you have to start treatment as early as you find out that you have it, now for many of you that think you cannot get married to a sickle cell person, there is nothing to be afraid of , you can marry a sickle cell patient and still live a more normal life than anybody, in fact refusing to marry someone with sickle cell, it is discrimination, we are all one, we are all humans, and sickle cell can be heal, totally , it also takes the miracle of God to go through that surgery and come back alive, we all have one life , treat who so ever that have sickle cell well. I see no reason why you cannot married someone that have sickle cell, if is the fear of death, sorry one day we all, are going to die , but on the other days we are alive , so I see no reason why you are afraid of getting married to a sickle cell patient, in fact study have shown that, many sickle cell patient live longer than expected, you know why, because they have their loves ones always with them, so if your wife, girlfriend, husband or boyfriend is a sickle cell patient, do not worry, he or she will live long by the grace of God , through the holy Ghost that is in everyone one of us, all you need believe, in his son Jesus Christ, secondly take your drugs always , if you have the money to go for the surgery then do it , you will survive, you know why, because Christ already died for that, so you will live. Now the problem about gender inequality is because many of this people that stand against gender equality are uneducated , like the Talibans all of them are uneducated, so they do not know the significant of education, so we should not blame them, even the most smart killer of all time was educated, education is not all about position, is about developing the human person, the thinking accuracy, social interactions and more. We all need to stand for what is right, if a woman is educated, it does not mean she is supreme, it only means her social and thinking accuracy has been develop, it has already been stated in the word of God BIBLE and also in this earth that a man has authority over the woman, but it does not mean that ,women should be enslave, rather women ought to be respected, that why you see every woman asking for gender equality, simple it mean we need to respect them, in educational sector, work places and even in social activities, it does not mean that women are going to be supreme over the men. One of a woman priority is her dignity of her womanhood. God has giving us a gift call life and has given us all good things and also right, so we need to respect each other right, for been born a male is not a privileged but a right also been born a female is not a privileged but also a right, the reason why woman are treated bad is not because of God say so, God did not say so, rather it is the way we humans with our mentality look at a female child, we need to change our mentality because to God all are equal, and also everyone has his or her own authority, and authority does not mean supremacy, authority means the value of someone words or thing and respect giving to that person, so we need to respect each other differences for a better today that will be coming in our children lives. Lets make a change, with our voice. or do you not know that you can have authority and not be supreme and also you can have supremacy and still do not have authority, let me explain, authority is the ability to command and be obey while supremacy is the ability to take over something.
