What the world needs now

What the world needs now is love
The world, deep down, is love, pure love.
The light of love is refracted into the illusion
Of our world. Deep down it is love
But that knowledge has been lost
Or has rarely been found.

Instead we adore and promote strife
And competition. Pain , greed and ruthlessness.
The competition principle, explained and extolled
By Charles Darwin has caused so many wars,
So much exploration, conquering and exploitation
Of both nations and nature.
The world was our host but we have fouled

The gift of life in abundance that the Earth
Provided. Some billionaires decided to start again
On Mars. Our spirit has been corrupted from love
To war, so Mars may be the better place for the human race.
What the world needs now is love. Perhaps without us. M.P.17/02/16
