Childhood memories of autumn in Illinois
Autumn Memories

6 lines

The smokey smell of autumn lives within my memories
Raking leaves into mighty mounds in our yard of naked trees

Diving deep into the piles, we'd play hide-and-seek
Jumping up, yelling "boo", shaking off the leaves

Father yelling, "Girls, stand back!" as he sets the piles ablaze
burning leaves turn into ash on those smokey autumn days
