Customers are stranded in a Denny's in a storm.
Winter Lovers
WC 222

The sudden storm raged outside. The roads were impassable. All of us in Denny's were possibly trapped for the night.

“I hate this,” I said to the back of the stranger’s head in the booth in front of me. “At least we won't go hungry,” I added, trying not to sound so grumpy.

His deep voice floated over the bench seat. “This is my favorite time of the year. I love the frigid weather,” he said with a slight English accent. “The colder the better.”

His comments made me shiver. I buttoned the top button on my coat.

“Are you serious?” I said, “You don't mind being trapped in Denny's?”

“Well, I did get to meet a lovely woman like you!”

A pervert! My luck! I did wonder what he looked like. All I could see was the back of his head.

As if reading my mind, he slid out of his booth and sauntered over. He looked like a young Sean Connery. Maybe the storm wasn't so bad after all?

Suddenly very warm, I undid the top button on my coat, popped a breath mint, and slid over. I fantasized how the evening in Denny’s would unfold as he slid into the booth.

He kissed my trembling hand.

And then in his deep, sexy voice, he introduced himself.
