ANSWERS

1 - Racial Superiority

“He made out of one man every nation of men, to dwell upon the entire surface of the earth.” - (Ac 17:26)

“God is not partial (prejudiced), but in every nation, the one that fears him, and works righteousness is acceptable to him.” - Acts 10.24,25).

“This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Saviour, God, whose will is that all sorts of men should be saved” – (1 Timothy 2.3)

AGAINST
The Bible condemns all racism, because all people are God's children, and come from the same ancestor.

2 - Spiritism and Magic

“By your spiritistic practice all the nations were misled”
- (Revelation 18.23)

“There should not be found in you anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. For everybody doing these things is something detestable to God” - (Deuteronomy 18.9-12).

“Practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning you, the same way as I did forewarn you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom” - (Galatians 5.20).

AGAINST
The Bible warns us not to turn to any kind of spiritism – even things like yoga and star signs. This is because all spiritism is controlled by spirits pretending to be dead people, or pretending to know the future, or pretending to give powers to humans. But the dead are “Conscious of nothing” (Ecclesiastes 9.11), and only God has the power to heal, or bring back from the dead.

3 - Wealth

“However, those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many senseless and hurtful desires, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.” - (1 Timothy 6.9).

“If a brother or a sister is in a naked state and lacking the food sufficient for the day, yet a certain one of you says to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,” but you do not give them the necessities for [their] body, of what benefit is it? Thus, too, faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.” - (James 2.15).

“Give orders to those who are rich in the present system of things not to be high-minded, and to rest their hope, not on uncertain riches, but on God” - (1 Timothy 6.17).

“Give me neither poverty, nor riches.” - (Proverbs 30.7).

AGAINST
The Bible does not condemn wealth, but the love of wealth – especially if a rich person ignores his fellow poor man. Some people love money more than people, and more than God. Such people spend their lives chasing more wealth, and they are invariably lonely and unhappy.

4 - Sex

“God blessed them, and said “Be frutiful, and multiply, and fill the earth.” - (Genesis 1.28).

“Rejoice with the wife of your youth.... Let her own breasts intoxicate you at all times. With her love may you be in an ecstasy constantly.” - (Proverbs 5.18).

“Let each man have his own wife and each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to [his] wife her due; but let the wife also do likewise to [her] husband. The wife does not exercise authority over her own body, but her husband does; likewise, also, the husband does not exercise authority over his own body, but his wife does. Do not be depriving each other [of it], except by mutual consent for an appointed time.” – (1 Corinthians 7.1-5).

“Let marriage be honourable among all, and the marriage bed be without defilement, for God will judge fornicators and adulterers.” - (Hebrews 13.4).

“Deaden, therefore, your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” - (Colossians 3.5).

“So why should you, my son, be in an ecstasy with a strange woman or embrace the bosom of a foreign woman? For the ways of man are in front of the eyes of Jehovah, and he is contemplating all his tracks.” - (Proverbs 5.20).

FOR
Sex is a gift from God. One of it's main purposes is to produce children. God designed sex for a man and a woman - in marriage. All other sexual acts (“Porneia”) are not approved of in the Bible.

5 – Divorce

“For he has hated a divorcing,” the God of Israel has said” - (Malachi 2.15).

“Therefore, what God has yoked together let no man put apart” - (Matthew 19.6)

“Except on the grounds of adultery”
- (Matthew 19.9).

AGAINST – except in the case of adultery.
God designed marriage to be for life – forever, and no-one can come between a husband and wife. However, the Bible recognises the pain and anguish inflicted by an unfaithful marriage partner who has sex with another person, and God allows the wronged marriage partner the option of divorce. But they can still choose to forgive their spouse and continue with the marriage.

6 - Gun Rights and Weapons

“He who takes up the sword shall perish by the sword.”- (Matthew 26.52).

“God himself examines the righteous one as well as the wicked one, and anyone loving violence His soul certainly hates” - (Psalm 11.5).

“He displayed himself a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah.” - (Genesis 10.9).

“Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you.” - (Matthew 5.44).

“And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. They will not lift up sword, nation against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.” - (Micah 4.3).

“He is making wars to cease to the ends of the earth. The bow he breaks apart and does cut the spear in pieces.” - (Psalm 45.9)

AGAINST
Although God has the right to end life, and has done in the past, the Bible forbids Christians to kill people, or even take up weapons.

7 - Patriotism and Nationalism

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” - (Romans 3.23).

“And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite.” - (Daniel 2.44).

“He made out of one man every nation of men, to dwell upon the entire surface of the earth.” - (Ac 17:26).

“God is not partial (prejudiced), but in every nation, the one that fears him, and works righteousness is acceptable to him.” - (Acts 10.34,35). ).

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor freeman, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one [person] in union with Christ Jesus.” - (Galatians 3.26-29).

AGAINST
God made all men equal, and He does not want one nation to promote itself above others.

8 - Alcohol

“He is making green grass sprout for the beasts, and vegetation for the service of mankind, to cause food to go forth from the earth, and wine that makes the heart of mortal man rejoice” - (Psalm 104.14-15).

“You must also give the money for whatever your soul may crave in the way of cattle and sheep and goats and wine and intoxicating liquor and anything that your soul may ask of you; and you must eat there before Jehovah your God and rejoice, you and your household.” - (Deuteronomy 14.26).

“Use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness” - (1 Timothy 5.23).

“Do not be getting drunk with wine, in which there is debauchery.” - (Ephesians 5.18).

FOR
Alcohol is a gift from God. However, it should be drunk in moderation. God does not approve of drunkenness, where someone is not in complete control.

9 – Politics

“You must be no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.” - (1 John 5.19).

“Do not put your truest in nobles or the sons of men, to whom no salvation belongs.” - (Psalm 146.3).

“Therefore Jesus, knowing they were about to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain all alone.” - (John 6.15).

“The Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, and he said to him: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.” Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.” - (Matthew 4.8-11).

“The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” - (1 John 5.19).

“God will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and he himself will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin.” - (Daniel 2.44).

“Now do appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations.” But the thing was bad in the eyes of Samuel inasmuch as they had said: “Do give us a king to judge us,” and Samuel began to pray to Jehovah. Then Jehovah said to Samuel: “Listen to the voice of the people as respects all that they say to you; for it is not you whom they have rejected, but it is I whom they have rejected from being king over them.” - (1 Samuel 8.5-7).

“The kings of earth take their stand, and high officials themselves have massed together as one, against Jehovah and against his anointed one (Jesus).” - (Psalm 2.2)

AGAINST
The Bible urges Christians not to get involved in the affairs of the nations. Jesus is their appointed king, and they look to God's kingdom - not imperfect, ambitious men - to bring peace to the world.

10 - Abortion

“Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book, all it's parts were down in writing.” - (Psalm 139.16).

“Before I was forming you in the belly I knew you, and before you proceeded to come forth from the womb I sanctified you.”
- (Jeremiah 1.5).

“in case men should struggle with each other and they really hurt a pregnant woman and her children..... if a fatal accident should occur, then you must give soul for soul.” - (Exodus 21.22-25).

“He will be filled with holy spirit even from before birth.” - (Luke 1.15).

“Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son.” - (Luke 1.36).
Note that upon conception, God considers the embryo a son or daughter.

“As the sound of your (Mary's) greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leapt for joy.” - (Luke 1.44).

Elizabeth was only 6 months pregnant, with John the Baptist.

AGAINST
The Bible clearly states that an unborn child is living and sacred – from conception.

11 - Revolution and Civil Disobedience

“Be in subjection to the superior authorities.” - (Romans 12.13).

“As far as it depends on you, be peaceable with all men.” - (Romans 12.18).

“To him that calls for the tax – tax” - (Romans 13.7).

“Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's.” - (Matthew 22.21).

“For the Lord’s sake subject yourselves to every human creation: whether to a king as being superior, or to governors as being sent by him to inflict punishment on evildoers but to praise doers of good.” - (1 Peter 2.13).

“Let anger alone and leave rage.” - (Psalm 37.8).

“Do not show yourself heated up only to do evil.” - (Psalm 37.8).

“Render to all their dues, to him who [calls for] the tax, the tax; to him who [calls for] the tribute, the tribute; to him who [calls for] fear, such fear; to him who [calls for] honour, such honour.” - (Romans 13.7).

AGAINST
The Bible warns against being disobedient to authorities – even corrupt ones. A Christian should never use intimidation, vandalism, or violence to try to change the system. Even Jesus refused political power.

12 - Sharing your faith

“Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations.” - (Matthew 28.19).

“This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.“
- (Matthew 24.14).

“You will be witnesses of me … to the most distant parts of the earth.” - (Acts 1.8)

“Everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.” However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth?” - (Romans 10.13).

“Sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defence before everyone that demands of you a reason for the hope in you, but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect.” - (1 Peter 3.15).

“Jehovah himself gives the saying. The women telling the good news are a large army.” - (Psalm 68.11)

FOR
The “Gospel” is good news, about God's kingdom – mankind's only hope for peace and justice. It is a divine Christian obligation to share one's faith in that kingdom with others. All people – not just clergy or Elders, have the same responsibility.

13 - Unlimited freedom of speech

“Be as free people, and yet holding your freedom, not as a blind for badness, but as slaves of God. Honour [men] of all sorts.” - (1 Peter 2.15).

“All things are lawful for me, but not all are advantageous.” - (1 Corinthians 6.12).

“All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must likewise do to them.” - (Matthew 7.12).

“Let your utterance be always with graciousness, seasoned with salt.” - (Colossians 4.6).

The Bible condemns - “Shameful conduct, foolish talking, obscene jesting, things which are not becoming.” - (Ephesians 5.4).

“Sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defence before everyone that demands of you a reason for the hope in you, but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect.” - (1 Peter 3.15).

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are…... enmities, strife, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, As to these things I am forewarning you, the same way as I did forewarn you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.” - (Galatians 5.19).

AGAINST
The Bible condemns hateful, hurtful, and offensive speech, especially for Christians.

14 - Environmentalism

“And God proceeded to take the man and settle him in the garden of E′den to cultivate it and to take care of it.” - (Genesis 2.15).

“God will bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” - (Revelation 11.18).

“Happy are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” - (Matthew 5.5).

FOR
It is mankind's responsibility to appreciate God's creation, and to take care of it. Instead humans have greedily raped the earth and left it devastated.

15 - Animal testing and hunting

“The righteous one is caring for the soul of his domestic animal, but the mercies of the wicked ones are cruel” - (Proverbs 12.10).

“God went on to say: “Here I have given to YOU all vegetation bearing seed which is on the surface of the whole earth and every tree on which there is the fruit of a tree bearing seed. To you let it serve as food. And to every wild beast of the earth and to every flying creature of the heavens and to everything moving upon the earth in which there is life as a soul I have given all green vegetation for food.” - (Genesis 1.29-30).

“He was a mighty hunter, in opposition to Jehovah.” - (Genesis 10.9).

AGAINST
While God temporarily permits the consumption of animals for food, the Bible condemns the unnecessary killing of animals for fun, sport, or vanity (cosmetics).

16 - Smoking and Drug use

“Cleanse yourself of every defilement of flesh.” - (2 Corinthians 7.1).

“Present your bodies as a sacrifice, living, holy, acceptable to God.” - (Romans 12.1).

“I will not let myself be brought under authority by anything.” - (1 Corinthians 6.12).

“You must love your neighbour as yourself.” - (James 2.8)

AGAINST
Drugs and smoking alter and pollute and our minds and bodies.
Also, if we love people, we will not insist on polluting their air, as well as our own. To take drugs – even recreationally, is to stimulate the demand for drug pushers, who are responsible for enslaving millions of young people every year – just to boost their profits.

17 - Images (Crosses, fish, statues)

“You may not act ruinously and may not really make for yourselves a carved image, the form of any symbol, the representation of male or female, the representation of any beast that is in the earth, the representation of any winged bird that flies in the heavens, the representation of anything moving on the ground, the representation of any fish that is in the waters under the earth" - (Deuteronomy 4.16-19).

“Little children, guard yourselves from idols” - (1 John 5.21).

“At that I fell down before his feet to worship him. But he tells me: “Be careful! Do not do that! All I am is a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who have the work of witnessing to Jesus. Worship God.” - (Revelation 19.10).

“By this, all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves, if your have love.” - (John 13.35).

AGAINST
According to Jesus, the identifying mark of true Christians is unselfish love- not a uniform, a cross, a statue, a flag, or any other physical emblem.

18 - Vegetarianism

“And God went on to say: “Here I have given to you all vegetation bearing seed which is on the surface of the whole earth and every tree on which there is the fruit of a tree bearing seed. To you let it serve as food. And to every wild beast of the earth and to every flying creature of the heavens and to everything moving upon the earth in which there is life as a soul I have given all green vegetation for food.” And it came to be so.” - (Genesis 1.29).

“Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat flesh at all, that I may not make my brother stumble.” - 1 Corinthians 8.13).

“I (God) have had enough of whole burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed animals; and in the blood of young bulls and male lambs and he-goats I have taken no delight.” - (Isaiah 1.11).

“Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat” - (Proverbs 23:20).

“And the wolf will actually reside for a while with the male lamb, and with the kid the leopard itself will lie down, and the calf and the maned young lion and the well-fed animal all together; and a mere little boy will be leader over them. And the cow and the bear themselves will feed; together their young ones will lie down. And even the lion will eat straw just like the bull.” - (Isaiah 11.6,7).

“Death will be no more.” - (Revelation 21.4).

FOR
The Bible tells us that mankind was designed to eat vegetation – not flesh. Only after mankind fell from grace, did God allow the consumption of meat – temporarily, until the final sacrifice – of Jesus. But, in “The Re-Creation” - promised when God's kingdom come - the original standard of perfection for humans will be re-established, and we will no longer consume animals.

Well done. You obviously have a good grasp of the principles in the Bible.

Outstanding. You really understand the Bible's moral compass, and God's thinking. Are you one of Jehovah's Witnesses?
