my blog...
It is hard to say what may transpire. Hind sight is always at least 20/20. Why worry about tomorrow? Today transfixes me and yesterday mesmerizes me.

Why set up a blog? Because I like to talk. Or, as others may say, I like to rant. And rave. *Bigsmile* Sadly, there is a very limited amount of people who are willing to sit and listen to me. *Frown* This can lead to some sad and frustrating conversations with...well, myself. So, for the sake of my sanity as well as everyone else's, I have decided to join the blogging fun and become a blogger myself!

What will you find here? Insane ramblings most likely. Some may actually be amusing depending on your humor. I may blog about new things I've discovered (some may actually be new while others may only be new to me; so, bear with me there). Things that annoy, irk, upset, tickle, fascinate, etc. me and every thing in the world is (are?) subject to blogging.

Disclaimer: Shouldn't everything pertaining to personal opinion have one?
I really like to talk about things that upset me or that I don't understand (often the same topic *Bigsmile*). Generally, these topics are controversial to say the least. If you have a problem with my viewpoints, that's fine. But don't yell at me for it. This is my blog and I am entitled to my own opinions! No one is forcing you to read so, just walk away. I do not tolerate yelling at me. I don't like it; don't do it! If you're afraid of being insulted or offended and can't tolerate being debated then just don't start anything. That said, I probably won't say anything to offend or insult; but, we must err on the side of caution!

Okay, now I have nothing left to blog about!! *Laugh* Well, feel free to check me out...uh, erm...I mean my blog and port. *Bigsmile* Catcha around!

I went to the movies yesterday and saw "Hairspray." I thoroughly enjoyed it. The songs were all good. The movie had a bunch of big name actors--beyond John Travolta, who, I think, gave a really good performance.

The movie sends a great message too. It is set in the 1960's which is a time I find hard to comprehend. On the other hand, things really haven't changed that much. The movie tag is something like "Can a big girl make it in show business?" The movie is much more than that though. It's not just about one big girl. It's about everyone who is different. If you aren't tall, thin, white, and beautiful you are different.

Of course, they win in the end which sends a message of hope that things can happen as will wish they would. Things can be the way they should be.

There are a lot of great characters in the movie as well. James Marsden's character was one of my favorites. There aren't any flat characters either. Each actor put everything into their character to make them believable.

I know very little about the broadway production of 'Hairspray' so I can't judge anything about the movie in regards to the broadway production. There are a lot of things that can be done on a movie set that cannot be done on a theatre stage. I think the movie is a smash. I would watch it again in a heartbeat. "Hairspray" is a good all around movie. I think you should go see it too!

Just a little announcement. My sister had her baby boy last night. Collin Robert. Everyone's excited! She called at 6:30 to say the baby was on the way and he was here before 9:30! I guess he was anxious to meet everyone!

My oldest sister is expecting her own baby boy in December. The due date is December 10 but how often does the baby come on their due date? *Smile* Our family is just exploding! The oldest has two girls (currently 12 and 5). Her oldest will be almost 13 by the time the baby is born. I just wonder what she thinks about it. She's a good kid. I'm sure she'll take it all in stride.

Anyway, our dad is beyond excited at the prospect of having two boys added to the family. He has four daughters and two granddaughters. That's a lot of girls. Come Christmas, he'll have two grandsons as well. This makes him happier than I've ever seen him. This is a little unsettling to me but that's another story.

For the next, four months it's all about Collin Robert. Then, he'll have to make way for his cousin.

People are very divided on this topic. This goes without saying. Through Care2's website (care2.com) I discovered an article which is confirmation to what many of us have thought, said, and pondered over.

In the beginning, many people said that Bush's agenda was to finish what Bush Sr. had started during his own administration. Oil, Oil, Oil. They said that's what it's all about. Then, September 11th happened. We all knew it was about protecting our freedom. Bush made efforts to show that he was declaring war on those who had declared war on us. But, so easily sidetracked he was.

A few continued to say that the non-war (which was quickly declared "Mission Accomplished") was all about oil. But, it was hard to see through all the troops, invasions, declarations, etc. The hunt for Osama was quickly forgotten. Saddam was our man now. It happened with a whirlwind of events few understood. Saddam was captured and still the non-war was not over.

What exactly are we fighting for? They say we can't leave because, to leave would be disastrous. We need to send in more troops. Dump more money into the non-war. Perhaps, it's a "conflict." Whatever the case, we need to escalate. Now, people are tired of whatever it is we are doing over there. People are dying and we don't know what we're fighting for.

One man is sure and is unveiling proof to show us what has been going on behind the secretive, closed doors of the Bush administration. That man's name is Richard Walker. *Bigsmile*(Please, ignore the cheese.) Anyway, this guy has an article in the American Free Press is entitled "The Bush-Cheney Oil War" and confirms what many have believed since the beginning.

http://www.americanfreepress.net/html/bush-cheney_oil.html

Regardless of which side you are on, I think you should take a look at the article. It's rare that we are shown this side of things in such a factual manner. Besides, whichever side you are on, you should always know all sides of a story. Knowledge is power. That's why Bush and Cheney want to keep us in the dark.

Let's turn on the lights.

After yesterday's main storms once again went to the south, we finally got a baby thunderstorm! *Smile* The thunderstorm itself didn't last very long...about half an hour or so. However, there was quite a bit of rain out behind the storm. It rained all night and most of the morning! *Bigsmile* It was wonderful to go to sleep to the sound of rain and to wake up to the sound of rain! Now, it's all cloudy and cool and damp. Much better than the past few days. We still need a lot more rain though. It's a good start though. Looks like we won't get another chance for more rain for a while though. I remember when it seemed as though it rained at least once a week! It seems as though the summer always heralded more storms than you could count. I just think that we don't get as many thunderstorms in the summer as we used to. Now they come in the beginning of the year. Thunder or not, I hope we get more rain before the end of the month. We definitely could use it.

The weather people said we had a 60% chance of severe thunderstorms. Actually, we had two chances. It was supposed to rain late in the morning with severe thunderstorms following in the afternoon. But, what did we get?

Nada.

Hot, humid, currently blue skies. We did have a lot of clouds yesterday with a pleasant breeze. However, it quickly turned hot. Now, all the clouds are gone and we are back to sunny, hot skies. We desperately need the rain too. Not as bad as some but still. We've hardly had any rain since May.

Isn't that the way it goes though? At least recently, I mean. It seems that, in recent years, we have summer weather in April and May with lots of rain followed by hot, dry months of June-August. All the weather is screwed up.

It's already hot and humid today. I miss last week's cool weather. It's hard to sleep when it's so hot. It's funny because the air doesn't seem to help at night. Oh, well. We have another 60% chance of rain for today and tonight and, currently, an 80% chance of rain/thunderstorms for tomorrow. I don't see it happening though. Not today anyway. The rain has been staying to the south of us.

Lake Michigan is directly to the west and it seems as though the rain hits the lake and fizzles out. I think the lake eats it. *Bigsmile* It is kinda funny though. I love weather.com and I check it semi-frequently when we are supposedly going to get rain. It's really something to watch this huge system of thunderstorms racing across the midwest and the disappear over the lake. It's crazy.

Oh, well. Maybe tomorrow we'll actually get some rain. It would be wonderful. I miss the smell of rain. A nice, long rain. An all day event. Yeah, that would be good.

Well, yesterday did not go quite as I had imagined. I had imagined lots of possibilities too. The guy I met had said to bring in my cover letter and resume to him. So, I did. We spoke for a couple of minutes and he said that he would send it on to some woman in the human resources department in Indianapolis hundreds and hundreds of miles away. In my head, it just doesn't make sense. How can an office run well if they don't hire their own people? Maybe I'm over thinking this. Still, apparently they have one human resource department that hires for all their branches. It seems strange to me. Furthermore, if he had told me that he would be forwarding everything to someone else I wouldn't have addressed my cover letter to him. I feel a little bit like a fool.

But, in other news, the sun seems to have taken a holiday and we've had a fair amount of cloudy skies. Even had a little bit of rain this morning. It's helping keep the outside bearable. It's still overly warm but without the sun beating down it's quite tolerable. We could certainly use some rain. I'm not sure if any amount of rain could save the grass at this point though. Still, I'm thankful for the cloud cover. It's a nice change.

I'm getting ready to go down and apply for an internship at a local advertising agency. They work with non-profit and servie-rendering organizations. Most of the work they do is for colleges and hospitals. I've heard they are the place to do internships, regardless of who their clients are. I'm kinda nervous though I don't know why. I did a Google map and know exactly (more or less) where I'm going. I've got my papers all ready. It's just an informal meeting. Just to introduce myself and hand over my resume and stuffs. Still, I have butterflies. It'll be fine. I'll be fine. Really. Truly. I guess I'd better be getting the rest of me ready. Then, I'm out the door. Heading into a bold, bright new world. Full of mystery, intrigue, and adventure. I'm nervous.

First, what's up with the e-mail? It says I have no new e-mail. I went into my e-mail anyway because I wanted to look at something or something. I had 7 new e-mails in there. I can't read them though. Nope, I click on an e-mail and get a weird error page. When I'm done here, I'm going to log out and log back in again and see if that does anything. It could be me. I guess I'll find out in a minute or five.

I had wanted to see the movie "The Prestige" when it was in theatres but never got around to it. So, I rented it the other day. Not at all what I was expecting. The ending had a "Sixth Sense" twist to it. Totally did not see it coming! The whole movie was a series of flash backs though. The whole movie I was wondering when it was. I was a little disappointed.

Christian Bale is awesome though. As is Hugh Jackman. Speaking of Christian Bale though, I thought it was interesting that the movie was directed by Christopher Nolan who also worked on "Batman Begins" which starred Christian Bale. Michael Caine also was in both movies. Just a little tidbit of useless information. *Bigsmile* This stuff runs through my head while I'm watching movies which is what prompted me to create "Invalid Item.

Nice little plug there.

It's a beautiful cloudy day out. The air conditioner is finally fixed. Which is great because it's been in the low 70's and hasn't been needed the last half of the week. *Rolleyes* I've had the ac shut off and the windows open and the attic fan on. It's actually cooler that way when it's nice outside. No fear. It's supposed to be close to 100 on Wednesday. I will definitely be using the air that day!

***

Well, logging in and out...no, strike that. Logging out and in didn't help. I keep getting a white page that says, "Temporary eMail Error.Array ( [0] => Login failed. [1] => Login failed. [2] => Login failed. [3] => Too many login failures ) error connecting to serv!! (1)"

I don't know if it's me or them. Oh, well. I'll have to respond to my e-mails another time. I'd say you could e-mail me if you knew what the problem is but I think it'd be pretty pointless seeing as how I can't read my e-mails. *Bigsmile* I'm sure it'll all get worked out soon.

***

Okay, well, whatever was going on seems to have righted itself. What a strange happening. Went through all my e-mail and made my replies. I still wonder what was up though...

Well, we didn't get the thunderstorms they said we would. There was a big line of thunderstorms headed right for us but it split into two bands. One section went north of us, the other went south of us. However, we did get a little residual rain that was left behind the splitting of the thunderstorms. It was enough to cool things down significantly. The mercury was pushing 100 yesterday. This morning, it isn't even 70 out yet. *Bigsmile* What a difference a day makes!!

Still no air conditioning. Don't need it today! *Bigsmile* I woke up this morning cold! I just hope the ac gets fixed before the cool weather ends. Yesterday was unbearable. It was absolutely terrible!! Hot and sticky. Not today though.

This morning, there were some clouds left over from the rain but they have all gone now and left blue skies in their wake. The clouds helped to keep it cool. Still, the weather people say it's only supposed to get up to 76 today which is a great improvement over yesterday. It's pretty windy out too.

All in all...much better today. I can go outside and run errands without melting! The ac guy was supposed to come yesterday but didn't so I'm still waiting on him. So, I'm kinda tied down till he comes. I hope he actually fixes the problem this time. What's the point of making a trip if you aren't going to fix it!?

Oh, well. Today would be a good day to come out. It's much cooler so the work would be easier. I can't imagine working outside with the temps like they were yesterday. He's got a lot to do though. If the weather holds out, I don't mind waiting to have the ac fixed. It's cooler than if the ac was running. But, don't make me wait saying that you'll come out and then you don't. That's all. I got stuff to do.

...still, I wait.

We have got to get rid of high pressure and blue skies!!! The temp is pushing 100 degrees!!! Not only is that insane, the air conditioner broke yesterday!! *Cry* It's hotter than all get out and the ac breaks! Of course, it had to go out in the middle of a heat wave! Luckily, the guy was able to come out today...

He comes, takes a look around, says there isn't a drop of freon in the unit and fills it up. He also says it has a leak and he will be back in a couple of days to check the pressure. Well, the air came back so I was semi-contented. At least, I wasn't sweltering anymore.

It was taking forever, though, for the temp to come back down inside. It was much cooler than yesterday but not as cold as it was last week. Still, I figure, it will take awhile to get cooled down since the inside was almost as hot as the outside.

Impatiently, I watched the thermostat. Over 5 hours it slowly crept down 4 degrees. I could feel the difference. It was actually almost comfortable. Then, I started to make dinner. I started to get warm. I figured it was because I was over the stove. I checked the thermostat again. The temp (which had never got down to the target temp)had actually gone up 1 degree from the last time I had checked. It wasn't a fluke either. The temp kept climbing back up. *Angry* Now, I'm right back where I started yesterday. Hot and annoyed.

Now, the guy has to be called again. All the windows are open and all the fans are on. It's bearable at least. Until dawn that is. I hope he can actually fix it. This is quite annoying. I mean, I was glad he could come out so quickly, but come on if you're going to come out you might as well do the job!

Another hot, sleepless night...

Don't you just love summer?

The town held our fireworks show last night (instead of in the middle of the week where the holiday fell and no one was sure if we were supposed to celebrate Tuesday night since we had Wednesday off or celebrate lightly all day Wednesday and go to bed as usual since there was work on Thursday). Anyway, the show started with a lot of noise and no color. I was ready to be disappointed. Oh, by the way, we don't actually go to the show. We watch from the backyard through the trees. I was getting ready to go in when I spotted a hole in the tree line where I was able to spot some color. The show started to get going after that. Most of the fireworks were in the tree line (we're about a half mile from where they shoot off the fireworks). One of the houses to the east were shooting off fireworks too so we had two shows going at the same time. Anyway, they actually had several fireworks that got above the treeline (as they really should). They had some new stuff this year too. They had one that looked like a thousand flares shooting up from the ground. There were a couple that went way above the tree line. It turned out to be a pretty good show. And long too. I stood outside and watched for better than a half hour. I think the neighbor's should have saved some of their fireworks for New Years. Wouldn't that be fun? Plus, there's less risk for starting a fire when there's snow on the ground. Fire was in the back of everyone's mind (I hope) since it has been so dry lately. Wouldn't take much for everything to go up. Luckily, no accidents or anything (firework related). All in all, a good show. We should do it more often.

It was supposed to be an good afternoon but...murphy's law. What could have gone wrong did. It was just bizarre. And, it's sunny again today. I'm tired of the beautiful summer weather. I want rain!!! I'm tired of everything being so crispy. If you walked across the grass without shoes or socks...someone fill in the rest of the joke...I lost it. Oh well.

The balloon flowers are blooming and the purple coneflower is beginning to blossom. The flowers look very pretty. I just wish the grass wasn't brown and crunchy. We could really use a good soaker. A nice, steady rain that lasts all night and through half of the day.

Doesn't that sound lovely?

Will we ever get rain? It certainly doesn't look like it. Not a cloud in the sky! At least it will be a good day to get my car washed. It needs it. Hey! Maybe if I wash my car it will rain!! *Bigsmile*

Well, I blogged earlier about a new "owning the internet" thing. The Agloco viewbar is set up and you can download it now. If you haven't signed up yet, check it out at... http://www.agloco.com/r/BBDC4202 Agloco is an acronym. A Global Community. I think it's cool. The viewbar comes in four different colors too (red, blue, green, and purple). You know how I love my colors!! *Bigsmile*

I guess that's it for now. I've gotta run to the school today to pick up my final project. I normally wouldn't but we had to put it in a binder and I want the binder back. So, go I must. I'm planning on making an afternoon of it. It'll be good. Yeah.

Happy Independence Day!!!
Happy 4th of July!!!

Hope you are all having a safe and happy holiday. The day started out dreamy and grey not to mention beautifully cool. Now, it's very summer-esk...blue skies, yellow sun, hot and balmy. It was supposed to rain all day today. We could have used the rain. Everything is so dry and... crispy.

Saw Shrek the Third today. I didn't think it was as good as the first two. It didn't quite meet my expectations. It was cute but not laugh out loud funny. It wasn't as big as its hype. I'm a trifle disappointed. I saw Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer and it was just what I was expecting. Thoroughly enjoyable. I haven't decided if I want to see Transformers or not.

Anyway, hope you're having a nice Independence Day.

I was so busy last week. There was a big rush to get things done before the holiday week. I worked my tail off. I can't believe it's July already. Where does the time go? I would like someone to check on that because I think I'm getting ripped off. *Bigsmile*

Does anyone else feel as though we are headed right into the 1984 novel? Not all the time but some of the time? Maybe it's because I have to renew my license plates which are supposed to expire on my birthday which they don't. They expire 19 days before my birthday. I would like to know how that happened. The website says that you can call their Information Center to change your renewal date to your birthday if it isn't already. So I called. It wasn't a terrible wait...15 minutes. But, when I finally got a real person (you have to start out with the automated system which takes 5 minutes to determine that it needs to send you to a representative) she said that I would have to go into one of the branches because they don't handle those sorts of thing over the phone. I had a few choice thoughts for her. What's the point of doing everything over the phone and internet if you can't do anything over the phone or internet and have to do it all in person. Either way, they rob me of time! Unbelievable.

I despise bureaucracy.

Yesteday marked the official beginning of summer. Which I find a trifle odd. It's the longest day of the year. This means that the days are getting shorter and that fall is on its way. I guess I'm getting ahead of myself.

Yesterday was also my last class. I woke up this morning and, lying in bed, was thinking what homework I had to do. Then it hit me--there is no more homework. Ever. For now anyway. I'm thinking about going on to get my masters but, for now, I'm just going to be satisfied that I finished my bachelors. YAY! Now, I can finally mark that box that says "college graduate."

It's weird though. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I'm done. It doesn't seem possible. I was taking classes at a local 2-yr community college and met my maximum number of classes that the federal government will pay for. *Bigsmile* Oops. So, August 28 I went down and signed up at a local branch of a university to finish my bachelors degree. Now, I'm done. It just doesn't seem possible. The past 10 months have just flown by.

Now, I must start a new chapter of my journey. This one is finished.

Well, today was my last Tuesday class. *Laugh* YAY!!

Quite fittingly, we watched "Tuesdays with Morrie" today...Tuesday. See the irony? *Bigsmile*

Thursday will be my last last class. *Frown**Smile* I'm happy and sad at the same time. I got to know a few of the girls well. It will be strange not to see them every week. We say we'll keep in touch but we all know how that goes.

Now, "everyone" is starting to talk about grad school. It's like we just finished and now everyone's putting us back in. I guess a bachelor's isn't as good as it used to be and a masters is the new bachelors or something like that. Personally, after almost twenty years of school, I'm ready for a break!! Still, it's weird because school is all I've ever known. It's one of those weird things in life. You never stop learning though. The world is my classroom.

This is my last week of classes. Friday I will have officially fulfilled all my requirements for a bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in marketing. *Balloon1* YAY!!

It was a busy weekend. Friday, I wrapped up the last bits of homework for Tuesday. We have a presentation on Thursday but I think that, more or less, it's pretty much wrapped up. I can't believe I'm almost done.

Saturday, I went to a semi-local (it was quite a drive) Apple store. oooh. It was really nice. They were super friendly too. Now, I really, really, really want a Mac. They're so pretty.

Anyway, my router from Verizon hasn't been doing what I want it to do so the Apple guy set me up with an Apple Airport Extreme which I set up yesterday. Now, I have my wireless home network setup. YAY!

Apple rocks.

I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately. More than usual I mean. Night before last, I tossed and turned for hours before getting up and watching TV. There's nothing on in the wee hours of the morning. I watched Poker After Dark until it went off the air and then I watch the news. Went back to bed, tossed and turned, got back up and watched the morning news (5 am). Went back to bed at six, went to sleep about half an hour later and then I slept til noon! What a waste of a day. I don't know if it's because it's summer time and it's so bright out or what. It's insane!!

I have only one more week of classes! I can't believe it's over already. I seems like I just started. This semester especially has gone really fast. I didn't know that 8 weeks would fly like that.

The weather's been super nice which I think helps. Sunny skies, 80-90 degree weather, dry, and beautiful. It's about time too.

*******************************

Oh, a good girl I have been. I got all my homework done for my Tuesday class!! *Laugh* Isn't that something?

Guess what?

My printer's out of ink and I can't print it out. I thought I had another cartridge of black ink. I went to print my papers and the red light came on (on the printer). I walked over to the printer and it said that the black ink was out. So, I opened the drawer under the printer (in the desk the printer sits on) where I keep my ink. I pulled out the package and it was the wrong kind. So, I don't have black ink and can't print. *Pthb* Go figure. Oh, well. At least it's done.

Well, I'm sorry to say that I don't have any funny stories about the crazy lady in my Tuesday class. She was actually well behaved last night. I was a little disappointed.

However, this other lady came into class with her hair in curlers which I found odd, intriguing, and funny. She has short hair mind you. She had her hair sectioned into one inch sections. Each section was braided and the braids were no more than two inches long. Each braid was rolled around a curler except for three braids and the base of her neck which were secured with clips (like the once salons use but little). I was wondering if she knew her hair was in curlers. My question was answered promptly when she began taking the curlers out during a classmate's presentation. The presentations weren't interesting or important but I thought it was a little rude to be doing your hair during class.

Anyway, she took the curlers out (but left the clips in). So, she had a bunch of little semi-curled braids. It was really weird to me. She sits in front of me so I couldn't help but look. The way her hair was sectioned reminded me of a giraffe. You know how a giraffe's "spots" are square and the way they are placed and the "spots" are dark and outlined with a lighter color? That's what it reminded me of. A giraffe.

I'm still trying to figure out the point of having your hair done like that. It wasn't the least bit attractive. Seems like it would be an awful lot of work to braid all those tiny braids just to take them down so your hair would be wavy. I just can't figure it out.

Anyway...all told, only three more classes left (one more Tuesday and two more Thursday). I can't believe it's practically over.
