Lyn's a sly fox: The Rock always remembers until even it is worn away by wind and water, reduced to grains of sand.

As a child I felt safe alone in my summer-garden or winter-closet. I would have envied Harry Potter's nook under the stairs.

I have good night-vision. I see the hundred shades of black and grey.

Fortunately, I live in a world of a thousand colors by day.

I miss the pitter=patter of little feet. Sometimes the loss overwhelms so much seek solitude in a place where darkness can only reside.

I wonder if you reside in the darkness too when I read your comments.

Anni Pon Perhaps overdone on the references. Glad you picked up on 'venison'. 40 words makes it tight.

I was homeless years after I took in refugees. Folks did help me. Maybe that thought was lurking in the back of my mind. "Homeless" is a deadly label in so many ways. I left Kansas for Montana in 2008 because I wanted to start anew.

I love this idea, and all the references and imagery. Especially the line: ‘Poverty was a red-nosed light-bulb flashing "homeless”…’ it’s really tragic to think of the jolly man who gives everyone gifts every year in such dire straits he has to eat his rain deer, and no one would help him….

Apondia Definite loss of habitat in Thailand. Elephants have a hard time as do 100 species of birds. Humans tend to not know what they have until it's all gone. Very anthrocentric.

I've read about the monkey problems in India and a couple other countries. I also read about loss of habitat as causes.

Wordsmitty ✍️ LOPBURI MONKEY BANQUET FESTIVAL... be there! End of November. They set a buffet in honor of the macaques that lure the tourists into town.

Maybe I should go this year?

Submittable...

an on-line place to submit ...apparently I already have an account! When I sent work to "Whitefish" three years ago I opened one. Hmm... so I updated it.

Me:

Some progress today. Not much.

Photos from Lisbon on-line. Re-opened my Submittable account. This blog...

Friday: book festival. Loved Dave Caserio's presentation. Wrote a poem for Melissa Mylchreest while she read.

Saturday: more festival. Sat and chatted with Emily Withnall from "Camas". I wrote her a poem, "Emerald Aurora". Evening performance in the Wilma was wonderful.

Sunday: went to Georgina Snow's house for reading/signing of Nona Burroughs Babcock's just published novel. Went to Joyce's for dinner. Got my "Nick fix" at The Break afterwards.

So... books to read, writing to edit, photos to edit, poems to submit...

Still don't have the energy to match what I need to do.

At least the weather is nice today. After rain and cold... sun and some warmth.
