A tritina for Brett.
[untitled tritina]

for Brett Johnson of Stillwater, Oklahoma

Green eyes, blond, almost a Nazi,
he strums his guitar, hums his song
"Shannon the sunrise was hidden",

fingers gliding over hidden
motes of emotion no Nazi
would ever hope to express with song,

his song, trilling high notes of birdsong,
exposing a heart he thought was hidden
like Anne Frank among the Nazis,

Shannon. Those Nazis whose heartsongs
died before sunrise, still hidden.

See yesterdays entry explaining how a tritina is similar to a sestina. This is modified too.
Met Brett yestereve at Aimée's. He said his eyes were blue-green, almost a Nazi. He sang his song "Shannon the sunrise was hidden" strumming his guitar. The poem flowed from that.

Any ideas for a title?

ME: Want to watch game; want to enter poem into blog ... so here I am at the library flipping between screens! No score in the game.

I've had this new blog for a month and less than 500 views ... it takes time to work up again, I guess; I haven't transfered all my favorites over from the old blog and haven't been reading as much as I should.

"Hoarfrosts from Hell [GC] has over 1,000 views now. It took two years, but it's restricted, so no surprize there! *Laugh*

IMAGES:

At Prairie Park and Mary's Lake: Gulls, daddy-long-legs; fishing bobs hanging from a tree like ornaments; yellow leaves along the path; dappled shade; a raised wood walk; clear water; rippled mounded silt and sand ... and paw prints; poison ivy turning gold; white and purple asters; ruby throuated snapdragons; purple cactus fruit.

Kansas: 81º with a searing south wind. 39º in Missoula ... hmmm ...
