Why I Am Here And Why I Plan To Stay!
So this is my first blog post ever...looks good so far.

As part of my first blog post I am to answer a few burning questions....

How did you find WDC and how do you like it here? How Did you find PDG and how do you like it so far?

Heavy. But I am prepared to ramble on about this. So here goes...

I actually stumbled upon this site from a Facebook link. I was curious so I decided to peak in. That was back in March. The site was overwhelming at first and with other things going on I only set up a free account and then ran away. I did occasionally poke back in to see if anything had changed. I think over time the site was working on reorganizing itself and it was not looking quite so overwhelming so I stuck around a bit more.

By mid-August I came around and discovered there was going to be a birthday party. Well I love parties and WDC had a great 13 days of celebration in store and I signed on. I entered the Baker's Dozen contest which had me trying a variety of genre styles. I entered a Birthday Bash Poetry contest. I was surprised when some of my pieces started to win. One even got me a big prize. Well I was hooked.

From there I continued my enjoyment of daily contests - The Daily Writer's Cramp and The Writing Muscle Stretch are some of my favourites.

Then it was Nano prep! I got pulled in deeper then. Loving every little challenge and the people I began to meet impressed me. Being on the Nano - Thon's Green Team was a blast. That is how I met my PDG pal Darleen. She really motivated me to get my bottom in gear.

Also along the way I enjoyed reading and reviewing other people's work. Learning from them, gaining inspiration and honing my skills towards improvement.

All so wonderful. The only thing I found was that I was alone. Trying to find my way through this maze called Writing.com and all its lingo. It was driving me crazy trying to figure things out. One day I asked, no one in particular, a question and I got a flurry of people wanting to assist me. ~ Aqua ~ asked if I wanted a mentor and after I said yes I got an invitation to join the PDG. Apparently I was supposed to ask to join but they had already accepted me, and that made me smile and think, 'yep, this is the group for me!' So here I am. I am loving every second I come to Writing.com - unless I get hung up on a challenge but there are people to help me now and the place does not seem so immense. I am learning so much and having so much fun.

With it being December I am enjoying being a Santa's Helper - giving back where I can. I just remember I have to pace myself. Writing.com is about writing. It is also giving helpful reviews to help others grow and to grow myself. The other bits are great but I need to remember - writing is the most important component - that way I won't get too lost in the fun bits.

Here's to a bright future, as I wish everyone who visits here all the best in 2014 and have a Merry Christmas while your at it!
