| Hmmm, wood versus plastic. I've smelled the unmistakable stench of melting plastic and it's definitely not conducive to a campfire. Wood smoke is a wonderful earthy smell. I can't imagine chopping plastic and stacking it either. On the other hand, I don't think plastic needs to dry and weather to be suitable for burning. Imagine a beaver lodge created of many bright colours of plastic; definitely defeats the entire concept of camouflage. There would be no chance that the plastic would develop mold and rot though. Slivers of either wood or plastic could be painful and annoying stuck in the teeth. I prefer my trees to be the type grown from seeds with graceful arms of shade and beautiful jewel tone leaves. Artificial trees are ugly aberrations. Squirrels and birds may find it difficult to nest in plastic too. Useful things like paper and tissue originate with trees/wood. Wooden furniture is more stylish and timeless; who wants to inherit a flamingo- pink, plastic table? Actually, who wants plastic flamingos ? Hmm....it's convenient that many foodstuffs are packaged in plastic. I can't perceive milk being sold in a wooden jug, although beer and liquors were once marketed this way. A keg of milk? Now I'm thinking of rain barrels. They can be wood or plastic . Ah, credit cards are known as plastic . Some people certainly rely upon that particular plastic and it may be used to purchase wood. No commercial ever asks will that be plastic or wood? This is a conundrum! To plastic or to wood? I know I prefer a plastic toothbrush; no wood slivers for me. |
