Prompt:
Motivation Monday! Legendary guitarist Link Wray was born on this day in 1929, and once said,"I'm not the same today as I was in '58, or '59 or even '71." How does not being the same as you were a year, five years, or twenty years ago influence you today?
I was born in '59. The years since have been a bonus: I'm taller, I now communicate with far less crying, I totter on my own two feet, I'm reasonably sane or is it sanely reasonable , I' m more independent , I contribute to society , I have more scalp coverage and teeth, I read to myself and write.
On the other hand, I'll admit I'm heavier. It's been a gradual realization that cookies do not love me back. Wear and tear plus injuries have taken their toll. My knees have aged disproportionally , or was I slipped a used pair at birth? I've learned to look before I leap.
Surviving parenthood relatively unscathed prepared/conditioned me for this next stage of my life, my third childhood, or as some know it, grand-parenthood. I'm free of the tough child - rearing decisions and worries.
It's great not being the same as I was years ago. The challenge of trying new things keeps me going.
