Still Only One

It’s starting to look like I’m going to be writing only one Short Story this month. The contest that I normally write a Short Story hasn’t given a prompt yet. At least they haven’t in their contest. So, it appears my WDC Short Story contest may be the only one that I write this month.

It has been two or three weeks into the month before that is contest has done this. So, there is still hope that I may be writing a Short Story for this contest after all. Unfortunately, if I do, I will only have a week or two to write it. I have done it before. And I can do it again.

Now for the really bad news. Well, it’s not quite very bad news. What am I writing about now? It’s my current Short Story for this month. As of this writing, it appears to be the only one. And this is it. what does that mean? It means that I haven’t gotten too much of it written.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I haven’t gotten any writing done of this Short Story today. Because I have. True, it’s not very much. But I have worked on it. The only problem is I don’t like what little I have written. So, I may end up rewriting it again.

That’s right. I am thinking about doing another rewrite of this story. That means that I have written at least one other part of it. Unfortunately, that is all that I have written so far today. And I’m thinking that I will rewrite it one more time.

I don’t like the way that I have written it so far. That’s why I’m thinking about re-writing it. True, I know that I’m not going to win this contest either. But that’s not going to stop me from trying. Besides, I’m just writing it because of this contest.

I’m mostly writing it for myself. Of course, I want to win. But I know that I won’t. that isn’t why I write these stories. I write them because of the challenge. I’ve got a million stories within me. If not a whole lot more of them want to come out.

Will I continue to work on it after I write and post this blog entry? The answer to that question is I probably won’t. I know that I need to do it. But I still have about four weeks to write it. And that should be plenty of time to do it. especially, if it’s my only one this month.

Why won’t I continue my writing after I get finished with this blog entry? It’s because of Monday and my lack of sleep that day. I still have some sleep to catch up on. And that means I will probably be going to sleep before too much longer. After all, I’m heading back to work tomorrow.
