I Think I Know Why
I Think I Know Why

For the last couple of days, I have been wasting my time when it comes to writing the Teaser Act for the first episode of my Water Wars scriptwriting project. Why am I writing that? It’s because I have figured out why I haven’t been writing too much the last few days. True, a lot of it has to do with work and the weather. But the main reason is it’s because of me.

What does that mean? It means that I have started over. No, I haven’t started over from scratch, the Outlines, or the movie script. But I have with the first episode of the Water Wars television series. Why have I done that? I don’t know how it exactly happened. But I realized that I haven’t been writing this episode right. Not because of the chances that I was making with the Outline versus the script, but because it was more telling than showing.

So, I started this script all over again. It wasn’t that much of a leap, though. Since I haven’t been doing too good with this script, I didn’t have to backtrack too much on it. After all, I was only up to the twelfth or thirteenth scene for this Act. Twelve or thirteen reads like a lot. And normally it is. It’s just past the middle of this Act. But because of the way they turned out, they aren’t as good as they should have been. as a result, I probably would have re-written them too.

It was easier to start all over again than to do several written pages of erasing. It’s not a complete rewrite, though. The two Establishing Shots are the same. I just copied them from the first try of this Act. Other than them, the rest is a re-write. And I did a very good job of doing that too. At least I think that it is. I did seven scenes for this act yesterday at work. That’s five numeric scenes and two Establishing Shots.

I wanted to do one or two more. But I barely got seven of them written. That’s because it was very busy at work yesterday. A lot busier than it has been on a Thursday for quite a while. I don’t know if it’s the busiest Thursday that I have had. But if it isn’t, it’s probably the second or third busiest. That’s how busy it was.

Luckily, the weather wasn’t against me yesterday. It was very hot yesterday. The middle seventies, I think. But it didn’t feel that bad. And I wasn’t outside my guard post too much. Maybe a little bit more than usual. But not that much. The weather isn’t the reason why I got so much writing done at work yesterday. It was work too. Like I wrote above, I should have got one or two more scenes written.

Five numeric scenes aren’t too bad. After all, that’s about after now. I just hope that I can get at least that many written today at work. I would like to get a few more than that written. But since it’s a Friday, I’m not going to count on it until it happens. I have done more than that on a Friday before. It hasn’t been done lately, though.
