20211223 On Editing
December 23, 2021, 10:30pm

Finished the editing of the short story and sent it off to the anthology. Now the waiting begins.

The two parts of writing I dislike are editing and synopsis writing. Fortunately a synopsis is only needed for long works, and not by every publisher.

But self-editing is hard. The problem is, you know the work as the writer and so you know what you meant to say and meant to type and mistakes can pass you by. I prefer to leave works for some time before editing, but sometimes I don't have that luxury. I do have an editor, and we swap and edit one another's work, but no time this time for that. And I hate bombarding her with short stories all the time.

I also need to find a new beta reader for my novels as my old one no longer has the time.

That's by the by.

Editing. Finding typos is one thing. But story inconsistencies or vague meanings are things I struggle to find in my own work. In others - not an issue. But in mine... issue.

So, editing myself. My personal bugbear.
