Thought for the day:

When people die and head for the light, they just don't realise they've already been reincarnated as a moth.

I've added a new entry to my "Writing Blog Number 2:

Another technical one.

Sorry.

Today is Wild Koala Day in Australia.

So, quick guide:

* Koalas are NOT bears. If you call one a bear, it will urinate on you or claw your eyes out. They get really touchy about it.

* Koalas do not smile. If the marsupial you're holding smiles, it's a quokka.

* Koalas are perpetually stoned. The effects of eucalyptus on them is like marijuana on the human, but when they get the munchies, all they eat is eucalyptus, so they just stay stoned.

* Koalas had chlamydia. Not that this affects many, but for those it does affect - stop it! It's unnatural!

* If the koala you are holding tries to rip your throat out, it's a drop bear. And it's too late for you. Try not to scream as it eats you. Oh, and word to the wise - drop bears prefer tourists and can smell if you're not Australian.

Otherwise,

Happy Wild Koala Day!

Where tourists are concerned, I mean, just how much can a koala bear? They smell so good.*Smile*
Are we absolutely certain that drop bears aren't just Koalas with chlamy-herpe-syphi-gonorrhea? That could make them really cranky.
Koala. *Koala*

It is May the fourth where I live, so...

HAPPY STAR WARS DAY!

And, to celebrate, here's my recent column:

I review the original trilogy (in brief!)

Nice write up.

By the way, I emailed you about your novel. Yesterday I think.
Check out Andor if you haven't already. It's easily the best live action Star Wars since Empire. So well crafted.

I've added a new entry to my "Writing Blog Number 2:
"20240503 How Long Does Writing Take?

Answering a question this time.

I must read it.
Nice summary. My answer to your last question is that it doesn’t matter so long as you finish it. For your hypothetical 5k, as a plotter, about two weeks for me.
s
To all those who have offered to beta read Dragonfire, in 4 weeks it will be taken down.

Two have so far completed their reads, and I am stoked that they did so, offering valuable feedback and opinions.

More will still be most welcome. So I guess this is a heads up for everyone that time is a-tickin'.

Thanks, all.

I believe this is what the cool kids call "a hot take."

I'll read it.
Interesting topic, I was not aware of the mainstream approach you mention. Frankly it strikes me as counterintuitive and arbitrary. My approach is similiar to yours with stages of editing and setting a work aside for a while.
It never involves a rewrite, but I'm still learning this trade. I dont intend on taking on the mainstream approach

And to continue with the Eurovision love...

My favourite 10 Eurovision songs of 2024!!
s
As a complete Eurovision tragic, I felt the need to share this track with everyone.

Netherlands' 2024 entry...

Yeah...

It's Eurovision...

(And, yes!, Australia is a part of Europe for one week every year! Don't @ me!)

Starts this coming weekend!

Only one person has asked for me to give examples. Do people want the examples? Remember, it's not a contest - it's an activity. If you successfully complete all 10 weeks, I'll give you a Merit Badge. No cost to you, just write 100 words (or 300 once) in a week! 1200 words in ten weeks! Seriously, that's all!

Yes!! Examples, please.
Examples would be most welcome!
Mostly because I enjoy reading your drabbles. *Smile* And they are SO much better than mine that I'm sure I will learn things just from reading them.

Walpurgis Night tonight, leading into Beltaine tomorrow.

Have you got your blood sacrifices ready to ensure a good summer ahead?

Remember, natural setting for best results.

I'm working on the blood sacrifices! I might use more than the usual pinprick of my own this year, but you do what you gotta do!

Happy Beltaine!
Do chopsticks count at 35,000 feet in the air? Or does stabbing Korean food just not do the trick? Truthfully... except for noodles I eat with a spoon like a Thai.
Don't mind me, I'm busy collecting kindling for the fire and gathering wildflowers. *Whistle*
s
Okay, we have one and a half entries already!

Ready to try?
