Maybe Part of Act Three

Re-writes are a part of life for a scriptwriter. Whether it’s a movie or a television series, re-writes are a big part of them. True, it’s often the scripts that are re-written several times. But it can also be the Story and Scene Outlines too. At least that is true for me.

That’s because I’m somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to my scriptwriting. I know that it’s not going to be perfect no matter what I do. But I want it to be a perfect as it can be. That’s why I keep wanting to change it. And my Water Wars scriptwriting project has changed a lot. Hopefully, this will be the last one. I think it will be.

Each time I do a re-write of this project, I get faster at re-writing it. Yesterday at work was a good example of that. At first, I didn’t think that I was going to get even the first half of Part One of the movie for this project. After all, it took me almost two hours to write twenty single sentences for this Scene Outline. But most of that was because of how busy it got at work yesterday.

It wasn’t as bad as it has been for the last few weeks. But it was still very, very busy at work yesterday. Especially, the first couple of hours. It was like it used to be for a Wednesday. They have always been busy. But the last few weeks they have been extra busy because it was that time of year where it work. I’m happy that is over with for this year.

Don’t get me wrong. It was still extremely busy yesterday at work. Just not quite as busy as the last few weeks. That’s why I didn’t think that I would get the first half of it done. But I did. The next two Acts went very quickly despite how busy that it still was there.

Work didn’t slow me down that much with my writing. If it slowed me down at all. In fact, I could have gotten Act Three of this single-sentence Scene Outline finished. Maybe not all of it. But most of it I could have. The only reason why I didn’t was that my replacement likes to come in about an hour to an hour and a half early.

For the rest of my work week, I don’t have to worry about my replacement. Only on Wednesday do I have to worry about that. And I don’t really worry about that either. It just means that instead of eight hours of writing, I only six about six to seven hours. I get most of my shift to do my writing the rest of my week. Of course, that depends on how busy it gets at work and what happens with who I work for.

Today, I’m going to continue working on this project. I don’t know if I can get the second half of Part One written. But if yesterday is any indication, I should be able to do it. May even be able to get one or two more Acts partially done or completely done. I’m just not going to count on that until it happens.
