Worse Than a Split Shift, Part Two

There can be nothing worse than a split shift. Unfortunately, that is wrong. I had another split shift at work yesterday. At least it wasn’t at what I call the main gate. It was at my old post. The only problem with that is that it’s a weekday. Which means that it was extremely busy during those first four hours.

I didn’t have too much time for writing. That’s because I was on my feet almost constantly. That doesn’t mean that I did try to get any writing done. I did take my writing out. And I had every intention of trying to get at least one Act done. But I didn’t even get the chance to do that. That’s how busy that it was yesterday at work.

It’s hard to believe that it got even worse after that. But it did. When I got to my regular post, I didn’t really feel like doing any writing. I wanted to try, though. After all, even a little bit is better than none. Only that didn’t work out either. When I went into my tablet, it was another blank document for episode two.

Luckily, I had the first document that I had worked on before I almost started over. All I need to do is Save it under another file name. After doing that, I erased each line. That took a little bit of time doing. In fact, I only had about an hour and a half to start working on it. Even if I wanted to do it, I couldn’t have gotten even one Act done.

Why couldn’t I get at least the Teaser Act done? After all, it is only twenty single sentences for the Scene Outline for the second episode of my Water Wars scriptwriting project? It’s the same as the first four hours of my shift yesterday at work. It wasn’t quite as busy as it was at my old post. But it was still very, very, busy.

Today, I’m going to try to get the first half of my second episode for this project written. All of that depends on how busy it gets there and what happens with who I work for. If it’s like yesterday or worse, then I might not get too much of it written. But if it isn’t, then I should be able to get at least that ninety single sentences written.
