Forty-Five Combined
Forty-Five Combined

It was a very good day at work earlier today. I got forty-five single paragraphs written this Saturday. This wasn’t a normal Saturday, though. Usually, I’m working on one part of my Water Wars scriptwriting project aka a Story Outline, or a Scene Outline. They can be either single sentences or single paragraphs. that’s not what happened earlier today.

Both were single paragraphs, but I worked on my Story Outline and Scene Outline today at work for the fourth episode, Probable Death. First, I started with the twenty-seven single paragraphs I needed to finish my Story Outline for this project, and I did them in just under the first half of my shift.

What did I do in those first six hours besides my patrols, camera watching, and paperwork about work? I wrote nine three-line single paragraphs, six four-line single paragraphs, and twelve five-line single paragraphs for a total of twenty-seven single paragraphs in about four and a half hours. An average of five or six single paragraphs per hour.

Those twenty-seven ended my Story Outline for this episode. The other eighteen were from my Scene Outline. That included two Establishing Shots and sixteen numeric scene single paragraphs. If I can do twenty-seven in the first half of my shift, why didn’t I do that many in the second half?

That’s a very good question. Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer to that. Because I know I didn’t get another nine of them written. The only thing that I can think of is a lack of sleep caused by a lack of concentration. I had both in the last half of my shift earlier today at work.

Unfortunately, I only slept about six hours yesterday afternoon and early evening. That should have been enough sleep for me earlier today. It wasn’t. The last couple of hours I felt weak and tired. I had to fight a few times just to stay awake. Staying awake wasn’t any problem, but almost constantly losing concentration does slow down my writing quite a bit.

As a result, I didn’t get as much written in the second half of my shift. Compared with the first half. Usually, it’s the other way around, but lately, it’s been about the opposite. Don’t get me wrong. I think that I did great with forty-five single paragraphs in one day. Even if that day is a Saturday.

Hopefully, I can get another forty-five single paragraphs written tomorrow too. If not a few more than that. Something I may be able to do. After all, tomorrow is a Sunday, and I usually do a little bit better on a Sunday than on a Saturday. Whether I do about forty-five or a little bit more single paragraphs, I’m going to get as many of them done as I can tomorrow at work.
